If weather and technical countdown procedures are favorable, the Saturn V rocket bearing astronauts Ron Evans and Harrison Schmitt is due to liftoff at approximately 6:53 PM, the first nighttime launching in the Apollo series. Lunar landing is scheduled Monday at noon; moon walks later Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday; lunar liftoff Thursday and splashdown due Tuesday, Dec. 19.
