[NBC 10:00] In Search Of Ancient Astronauts [special]
The theory that various baffling phenomena of the past, visible in various parts of the world, is the work of visitors from other planets is the subject of a special narrated by Rod Serling. Based on the international best seller, "Chariots of the Gods?", written by Erich Von Daniken, the program was filmed throughout the world. In support of Von Daniken's theory is visible evidence: a 2,000-year-old electrical battery in Bagdad; in Istanbul, maps dating back to 1 A.D. that are uncannily accurate showing earth as it would have appeared to astronauts high above; in Mexico and Italy, ancient drawings and sculptures depicting strange beings wearing what appear to be space suits, including helmets with antennae. Among scientists offering comment on these findings are Dr. Wernher Von Braun and Dr. Harold P. Kline of NASA's Ames Research Center.
