The Watergate affair has renewed many Americans' confidence in the nation's news media. But the press, television and radio news remain under fire from various institutions - governmental and otherwise - which would like to restrain their first amendment rights. This program examines the extent of first amendment freedoms today and the attempts to curb them, placing the issues in historical perspective from pre-Constitution times through the 20th century presidential administrations. Frank Reynolds and Sam Donaldson narrate.
