The 11th and final special in the series of Bicentennial programs chronicles the Industrial Revolution in this country -- a story of stolen secrets, Yankee ingenuity and native American genius. Tony Randall narrates the dramatization of the people and events who shaped this revolution: Eli Whitney, inventor of the cotton gin; Samuel Slater, an Englishman who helped break England's worldwide textile monopoly; and Francis Cabot Lowell, originator of the unitized factory system. In addition, animated sequences illustrate other technological advances -- railroads, oil wells and the telegraph.
