Rory Armagh bows to his father Joseph's wishes and marries Claudia Desmond and begins a career in politics -- part of Joseph's master plan to have him become President of the United States. During Rory's campaign, run by his younger brother Brian, Joseph is felled by a heart attack and remains in the background, planning strategy. But fate has a dramatic surprise for the Armagh family.
