They are upset over a report that the American ambassador approved the Laotian government's arrest of three journalists trying to cover the war. Senator Stuart Symington wants Ambassador G. Pompidou reaffirmed the right of Israel to exist and be secure. [CBS] London air crews received assurances of more security and have restored service to Mideast flights. European civil aviation officials called a meeting for next week to consider ways to combat airline terrorism. [CBS] Britain announced that it will raise servicemen's pay; there has been trouble keeping a fully-staffed army since the draft was abolished. [CBS] Philadelphia's Lincoln National Bank dropped its prime interest rate to 8%. [CBS] A Cleveland grand jury indicted another person in connection with the December 1969 murders of United Mine Workers official Joseph Yablonski and his family. Silous Huddleston is charged with obstructing justice, interfering with the rights of union members and conspiracy to interfere by force or violence. [CBS] The Chicago convention conspiracy trial featured the raucous behavior of the defendants; now there are similar problems in a Black Panther trial in New York City. The judge initially ignored the Panthers' outbursts and the trial resumed. When the judge finally ordered the defendants to remain silent, he was called a "pig". The defendants were then removed and an indefinite recess has been called until the defendants agree to behave; they will stay in prison until that time. The defense attorney was not given a chance to reply. [CBS] Dr. Alan Guttmacher, a specialist in population control, told a Senate hearing that statistics show pregnancy to be more dangerous to women than the birth control pill. [CBS] The Nixon administration called for a ceiling on hospital charges and doctors' fees under Medicare and Medicaid. [CBS] President Nixon urged governors to support his anti-pollution campaign. [CBS] The Supreme Court extended the one man-one vote principle to school board elections, and expects it to apply to all levels of government. [CBS]
