'Must' Events Set For Golfers

PEBBLE BEACH -- Leading professional golfers, who have been free to choose where they play, were ordered Friday to compete in three specific tournaments this year. The designated tournaments are the $250,000 Colonial Open, May 16-19 at Ft. Worth; the $250,000 Kemper Open, May 30-June 2 at Charlotte, N.C., and the $300,000 World Open, Sept. 12-15, at Pinehurst, N.C. The players who must play in those tournaments are: U.S. Open, PGA and Masters champions from the last five years, the leading money winners from the last five years, the 1973 British Open champion, the 1973 Ryder Cup team members and the top 30 money winners from 1973.
