WHA Owner Denies Rich Offer To Hull

CHICAGO -- Ben Hatskin, owner of the Winnipeg Jets of the newly formed World Hockey Assn., denied he made a $1 million offer to Bobby Hull. "What I said," Hatskin said, "was that I would give a million dollars to have Hull, but I have not made any direct offer to him or talked to him about the any deal. I haven't talked to his agent (Harvey Weinberg of Chicago), either. I was misquoted," Hatskin said.

Hatskin also denied he has any meeting set up with Hull in Toronto this weekend. Also, Hatskin said the World Hockey Assn. has not held a draft of four National Hockey League players for each club as reported. "What we all did was make a list of players we'd like to have, but it wasn't a draft or anything like it," said Hatskin. "And, no, I'm not going to tell you if Hull was on my list. That stuff isn't for publication." World Hockey Assn. officials have admitted lists exist for each team, but that's as far as it has gone.
