Today's scores and summaries:

Red Sox 5, Tigers 4 at Boston (night game):
Jim Lonborg, who had been sidelined by arm trouble, made his first appearance since May 8, pitched two innings of scoreless relief and was the winner when the Red Sox defeated the Tigers, 5-4. The Red Sox scored the winning run in the ninth on a single by Tony Conigliaro after two walks and an error had loaded the bases. The loss was sixth in succession for the Tigers.

Angels 3, White Sox 0 at Chicago (night game):
Rudy May yielded only two hits in his first complete game of the season and pitched the Angels to a 3-0 victory over the White Sox. Roger Repoz homered in the first inning, Ken McMullen singled and Bill Voss tripled for another run in the sixth, and the final marker followed in the seventh on a single by Jim Fregosi and double by Repoz.

Twins 5, Royals 4 at Kansas City (night game):
The Twins extended their winning streak to six games when Rod Carew scored on a wild pitch in the 10th inning to beat the Royals, 5-4. Carew opened the stanza with a single, took second on a safe bunt by Tony Oliva and reached third on a long fly by Rich Reese before coming home on Tom Burgmeier's wild pitch. Bob Oliver batted in all four of the Royals' runs with a single and homer.

Brewers 6, A's 3 at Milwaukee (night game):
Playing despite a sore thumb, Tommy Harper hit a homer, two doubles and a single to lead the Brewers to a 6-3 victory over the Athletics. The Brewers scored five of their runs in the third inning. John Morris led off with a single and after a double by Harper and a walk loaded the bases, Mike Hegan singled for two runs. A walk reloaded the bases and another run counted on an infield out by Steve Hovley. Roberto Pena, obtained from the A's earlier in the day, and Gus Gil, recalled from Portland (Pacific Coast), followed with run-scoring singles.

Orioles 5, Yankees 1 at New York (night game):
Frank Robinson and Boog Powell each drove in two runs to back the pitching of Jim Palmer as the Orioles defeated the Yankees, 5-1. Robinson accounted for his RBIs with a double in third inning. Powell homered in the sixth and batted in another run with a single in the seventh.

Senators 3, Indians 1 at Washington (night game):
The Senators were held to only three hits, but they included a homer by Ed Stroud with two men on base to beat the Indians, 3-1. Five homers, including two by Tommie Agee, powered the Mets to a 7-4 victory over the Expos. Agee led off with a circuit clout and Ron Swoboda added a two-run swat, but the Expos came back with three runs in their half, two scoring on a round-tripper by Adolfo Phillips. After taking the lead again with a run in the fourth, the Mets resumed with homers by Cleon Jones and Donn Clendenon in the seventh.
