Today's scores and summaries:

Orioles 6, Indians 2 at Baltimore (night game):
The Orioles scored three runs in each of the first two innings and breezed to a 6-2 victory over Indians behind the pitching of Dave McNally. Two walks, a triple by Paul Blair and a single by Brooks Robinson started the Orioles' production. A single by McNally, double by Don Buford, single by Chico Salmon, a sacrifice fly by Merv Rettenmund and an error added a second trio. McNally was deprived of a shutout when Roy Foster homered with a man on base in the ninth inning.

Red Sox 5, Senators 3 at Boston (day game):
Two homers by Tony Conigliaro, one by Carl Yastrzemski and a pair of run-scoring doubles by Jerry Moses provided the Red Sox with a 5-3 victory over the Senators. Yastrzemski, who had been hitless in 20 times at bat, broke a 3-3 tie with his circuit clout in the fifth inning. Conigliaro's second homer of the game clinched it in the eighth.

Tigers 4, Yankees 3 at Detroit (night game):
Homers by Willie Horton and Bill Freehan carried the Tigers to a 4-3 victory over the Yankees. Horton connected with two men on base in the fourth inning. The Yankees came back with the aid of a homer by Bobby Murcer to tie the score, but Freehan ended the game by leading off with a round-tripper in the ninth.

Royals 7, White Sox 1 at Kansas City (night game):
Dave Morehead yielded only five hits in his first complete game since August 19, 1968, and pitched the Royals to a 7-1 victory over the White Sox. The Royals clinched their verdict with five runs in the eighth inning, the first two scoring on a bases-loaded single by Bob Oliver. After a pass reloaded the sacks, two walks and a wild pitch added three runs.

Twins 6, Brewers 5 at Minnesota (night game):
Three unearned runs on three errors in the seventh inning enabled the Twins to defeat the Brewers, 6-5. Ted Kubiak muffed a grounder by George Mitterwald to start the stanza and with one out, Tommy Harper missed connections with a bouncer by Cesar Tovar. After Rod Carew popped up, Kubiak kicked a grounder by Tony Oliva, Mitterwald scoring. Harmon Killebrew walked to load the bases and two more runs then scored on a scratch hit by Rich Reese.

Reds 2, Padres 1 at San Diego (night game):
Jim McGlothlin singled in the eighth inning and scored the tie-breaking run to help himself to victory as the Reds nipped the Padres, 2-1. Lee May homered for the Reds' first run in the second inning. McGlothlin, who had pitched two straight shutouts, was foiled in his bid for a third when Cito Gaston homered for the Padres in the fourth. After hitting his single in the eighth, McGlothlin took third on a single by Pete Rose and scored on a sacrifice fly by Bobby Tolan. McGlothlin bruised his knee sliding across the plate and left the game.
