Brewers 5, White Sox 2 at Milwaukee (night game):
Swinging at the first pitch of the game, Tommy Harper hit a homer to start the Brewers off to a 5-2 victory over the White Sox. The Brewers added their other runs in the third on a double by Russ Snyder, a pass to Ted Savage, singles by Mike Hegan and Ted Kubiak, a wild pitch and a single by Phil Roof. The White Sox had only six hits, including a homer by Ed Herrmann, off Lew Krausse.

Mets 2, Astros 0 at Houston (night game):
Art Shamsky smashed a two-run homer and Jim McAndrew pitched a five-hitter as the Mets snapped their five-game losing streak by defeating the Astros, 2-0. After Cleon Jones singled in the sixth, Shamsky's homer ended a string of 25 scoreless innings pitched by Jack Billingham, who was tagged with his first loss of the season. McAndrew, who was helped out of his only jam by a double play in the seventh, turned in his first complete game of the year.
