Today's scores and summaries:

Yankees 5, Angels 2 at California (night game):
Four passes in the 10th inning, including two with the bases loaded, enabled the Yankees to score three runs on only one hit to defeat the Angels, 5-2. With one out, Thurman Munson singled and Roy White walked. Tom Murphy, replacing Rudy May, passed Danny Cater to load the bases. Paul Doyle then relieved and walked both Bobby Murcer and Ron Hansen to force in two runs. After Eddie Fisher took over as the Angels' fourth pitcher of the frame, an infield out by Ron Woods added the Yankees' final run.

Twins 5, Orioles 2 at Minnesota (day game):
The Twins won the season series with the Orioles, seven games to five, by posting a 5-2 victory in the last scheduled meeting between the division leaders. After starting with a homer by Jim Holt in the second inning, the Twins scored three runs in the third. Rich Reese batted in a pair with a triple and scored himself on a double by Tony Oliva. George Mitterwald homered for the Twins' last tally in the sixth. Bert Blyleven gave up seven hits to the Orioles, including a homer by Don Buford, in six innings before yielding to Ron Perranoski, who allowed one hit in the last three frames and recorded his 25th save of the season.

Cardinals 16, Reds 9 at Cincinnati (night game):
Shattering an eight-game losing streak, the Cardinals went on a 19-hit rampage and defeated the Reds, 16-9. The Cardinals scored in all but two innings with an attack that included two homers by Dick Allen, three doubles by Vic Davalillo and a double and single by Mike Shannon, who drove in four runs. The Reds took a 6-3 lead against Nelson Briles, getting five of their runs in a second-inning outburst that included Johnny Bench's 34th homer. However, Chuck Taylor then stifled the Cincy crew until the ninth when Bernie Carbo hit a homer with two men on base.

Mets 5, Giants 3 at New York (night game):
After a shaky start, Tom Seaver settled down, allowed only one hit in the last seven innings and pitched the Mets to a 5-3 victory over the Giants. A pass to Tito Fuentes and singles by Willie Mays, Dick Dietz and Jim Ray Hart gave the Giants two runs in the first inning and Bobby Bonds added a homer in the second. The Mets came back with a two-run wallop by Joe Foy in their half of the second and tied the score when Cleon Jones hit for the circuit in the fourth. Seaver walked in the fifth, advanced on a passed ball and sacrifice and scored the go-ahead run on a single by Ken Singleton. Mike Jorgensen tripled in the eighth and Singleton singled to wrap up Seaver's 15th victory.

Phillies 10, Dodgers 3 at Philadelphia (night game):
The Phillies posted their 10th victory in the last 12 games by defeating the Dodgers, 10-2, with the aid of homers by Tony Taylor, Deron Johnson and Larry Hisle. Byron Browne batted in three runs with a single and a double. Wes Parker hit a homer for the Dodgers.
