Mets 3, Cubs 2 at New York (night game):
Tommie Agee, who did not start the game because of a bruised rib, came off the bench as a pinch-hitter in the 11th inning and drove in a run with a single to bring the Mets a 3-2 victory over the Cubs. With two out, Jerry Grote doubled for his fourth hit of the game and Tim Foli was handed an intentional pass before manager Gil Hodges called on Agee.

Phillies 3, Cardinals 2 at Philadelphia (night game):
Larry Bowa singled with the bases loaded and two out in the eighth inning for his fourth hit of the game and drove in two runs to give the Phillies a 3-2 victory over the Cardinals. Chris Zachary, making his debut with the Cards, gave up a single to Tim McCarver to open the decisive stanza. Roger Freed sacrificed. After an intentional pass to Don Money, Larry Hisle forced Money. When Zachary walked Ron Stone to load the bases Don Shaw relieved to face Bowa, who hit a soft liner to left for two runs.
