Today's scores and summaries:

Indians 10, Orioles 5 at Baltimore (night game):
The Indians piled up 17 hits, including three apiece by Vada Pinson and Ted Uhlaender, to defeat the Orioles, 10-5. Uhlaender, who also hit a sacrifice fly, drove in four runs. The Orioles jumped on Steve Dunning for four runs in the fifth inning to tie the game, but Graig Nettles and Pinson singled in the sixth, Ken Harrelson walked and Uhlaender plated two runs with a single to put the Indians ahead to stay.

Red Sox 6, Senators 2 at Boston (day game):
Gary Peters, who batted in the first two runs with a single in the second inning, was knocked out in the sixth, but received credit for the victory when the Red Sox defeated the Senators, 6-2. Reggie Smith and Rico Petrocelli homered in the fifth.

Tigers 4, Yankees 3 at Detroit (night game):
Willie Horton homered in the second inning and then singled in the sixth when the Tigers scored three runs to defeat the Yankees, 4-3. After Bobby Murcer and John Ellis hit back-to-back homers for the Yankees in the fourth, the Tigers counted their runs in the sixth on a pass to Ike Brown and successive singles by Aurelio Rodriguez, Al Kaline, Horton and Bill Freehan.

Brewers 5, Twins 3 at Milwaukee (day game):
A triple by pinch-hitter Roberto Pena with the bases loaded in the eighth inning brought the Brewers a 5-3 victory over the Twins. Two walks, a sacrifice and an intentional pass put the "ducks on the pond" for Pena's poke. The Twins had taken a 3-2 lead in the top half of the eighth when Paul Ratliff hit a two-run homer.

Dodgers 5, Giants 1 at Los Angeles (night game):
Dick Allen batted in two runs with a bases-loaded single in the first inning to start the Dodgers off to a 5-1 victory over the Giants. Other runs included a homer by Bill Sudakis. Don Sutton held the Giants to four hits with their lone run coming on a round-tripper by Dick Dietz in the seventh.

Braves 4, Expos 1 at Montreal (night game):
Tom Kelley pitched a four-hitter and gained his first N. L. victory when the Braves defeated the Expos, 4-1. Kelley's start was his first in the majors since pitching for the Indians in 1966. The Braves jumped off with three runs in the first inning, two scoring on a single by Sonny Jackson, and added their final marker on a homer by Hank Aaron in the sixth.

Pirates 5, Reds 2 at Pittsburgh (night game):
Jim Merritt, a 20-game winner in 1970, was pinned with his seventh straight defeat when the Pirates beat the Reds, 5-2. The Pirates scored twice in the first inning on a single by Dave Cash, walk to Roberto Clemente, double by Willie Stargell and infield out by Bob Robertson. Clemente homered with a man on base in the second and Manny Sanguillen added a run with a round-tripper in the fifth. The victory was the Pirates' first over Merritt in eight decisions, including a championship playoff game last season.

Cardinals 10, Cubs 0 at St. Louis (night game):
In the first complete game of his major league career, Chris Zachary allowed only two hits and pitched the Cardinals to a 10-0 victory over the Cubs. The Cardinals tagged Fergie Jenkins for five runs in the first two innings and then kayoed the Cubs' ace while adding two more in the seventh. Lou Brock, hitting safely in his 23rd straight game, rapped three singles and drove in three runs.
