Today's scores and summaries:

Orioles 12, Twins 0 at Baltimore (night game):
Led by Frank Robinson, who drove in five runs, the Orioles trounced the Twins, 12-0, behind Jim Palmer, who pitched a six-hitter and posted his first shutout of the season. Robinson rapped a homer and two singles. Don Buford contributed two triples to the Orioles' 16-hit attack.

Yankees 3, Angels 2 at California (night game):
Two wild throws enabled the Yankees to score the deciding run in a 3-2 victory over the Angels. Thurman Munson walked in the sixth inning and took second on a wild pickoff attempt by Tom Murphy. After advancing on an infield out, Munson scored when catcher John Stephenson threw wildly trying to pick him off third base.

Indians 9, White Sox 0 at Cleveland (night game):
A reliever with the Dodgers last season, Ray Lamb continued to show his ability as a starter for the Indians by defeating the White Sox, 9-0, for the first shutout of his major league career. Ray Fosse backed Lamb with a three-run homer and Ted Uhlaender drove in two runs with a double.

Tigers 3, Brewers 2 at Detroit (night game):
For the second straight night, the Tigers got a game-winning homer from Norm Cash and defeated the Brewers, 3-2. Mickey Stanley singled and Bill Freehan tripled for a Tiger tally in the second inning, but the Brewers took the lead in the fourth when Johnny Briggs doubled and Bill Voss homered. However, Willie Horton walked in the Tigers' sixth and Cash won the game for Joe Coleman with his circuit clout.

Braves 2, Astros 1 at Houston (night game):
A single by Marv Staehle, triple by Hank Aaron and single by Orlando Cepeda produced two runs in the first inning and resulted in the Braves beating the Astros, 2-1. Tom Kelley, pitching for the Braves, had a two-hit shutout going into the ninth when a walk and two singles gave the Astros their run with one out before Cecil Upshaw relieved and retired the last two batters.

Expos 3, Giants 1 at Montreal (night game):
Completing a sweep of the three-game series, the Expos defeated the Giants, 3-1, to hand the slumping West division leaders their eighth setback in the last nine starts. Nevertheless, the Giants still enjoyed a seven-game bulge over the Dodgers, who were defeated by the Phillies. The Giants' run off Carl Morton in the first inning was unearned. The Expos took the lead with two runs in the fifth on singles by Ron Hunt and Rusty Staub, a sacrifice fly by Bob Bailey and double by John Bateman. Morton gave himself some more breathing room by plating the last run with a sacrifice fly in the eighth.

Padres 4, Mets 2 at New York (day game):
Clay Kirby struck out 13, setting a San Diego club record, and pitched the Padres to a 4-2 victory over the Mets with the support of homers by Ollie Brown and Nate Colbert. Kirby had a shaky beginning, giving up two runs on a round-tripper by Ed Kranepool in the first inning, but the Padres got one run back with doubles by Colbert and Ivan Murrell in the second. Brown's homer tied the score in the fourth and Colbert then provided the winning margin with a two-run smash in the fifth.

Phillies 4, Dodgers 2 at Philadelphia (night game):
Terry Harmon scored two runs and drove in one to lead the Phillies to a 4-2 victory over the Dodgers. Harmon singled in the first inning, stole second and counted on a single by Willie Montanez. After a walk to Deron Johnson, Montanez scored on a single by Don Money. The Phillies added their other pair in the fourth. An infield hit by Larry Bowa, a sacrifice and single by Harmon produced one tally. Harmon took second on the throw to the plate and scored on a single by Tim McCarver.

Pirates 3, Cardinals 1 at St. Louis (night game):
Steve Blass survived a bases-loaded, none-out threat in the sixth inning and pitched the Pirates to a 3-1 victory over the Cardinals. Bob Robertson homered for the Pirates in the fifth and their two other runs counted in the sixth on a single by Roberto Clemente, pass to Willie Stargell, single by Manny Sanguillen and an error by Lou Brock, who let Sanguillen's hit get away from him in left field. In the sixth, after the Cardinals loaded the bases on singles by Jerry Reuss, Brock and Matty Alou, Ted Simmons hit a sacrifice fly, but Blass retired Joe Torre and Jose Cardenal on popups.
