Today's scores and summaries:

White Sox 7, Orioles 3 at Baltimore (night game):
In a one-man show, Rick Reichardt smashed the Orioles' nine-game winning streak by driving in five runs with a homer and double to lead the White Sox to a 7-3 victory. Tom Egan hit a homer in the second inning to produce the first two runs for the White Sox. Reichardt homered in the sixth to add two more and drove in three runs with a bases-loaded double in the seventh.

Senators 3, Angels 2 at California (night game):
A two-out double by Dick Billings was the key blow as the Senators scored three runs in the sixth inning to defeat the Angels, 3-2, and snap their seven-game losing streak. Toby Harrah tripled and, after one out, Frank Howard was handed an intentional pass. Frank Fernandez struck out, but Billings looped his double to right-center field, scoring Harrah and Howard. Paul Casanova followed with a single to drive in what proved to be the winning run.

Brewers 4, Indians 2 at Cleveland (day game):
The perfect relief pitching of John Morris, who retired 14 straight batters in the last 4 2/3 innings, made it possible for the Brewers to defeat the Indians, 4-2, snapping an eight-game losing streak. Dave May, who led the Brewers at bat with four hits, drove in their first two runs with a bases-loaded single in the second. Tommy Harper doubled in the fifth and scored on a single by May for his third RBI. After a sacrifice, May also crossed the plate when Frank Tepedino singled. Morris earned credit for his first victory of the season.

Twins 5, Tigers 4 at Detroit (day game):
With two out in the ninth inning, the Twins rallied for two runs to defeat the Tigers, 5-4. Danny Thompson set off the rally with a single and Steve Braun walked. Fred Scherman then replaced Mickey Lolich and failed in relief, giving up run-scoring singles by Cesar Tovar and pinch-hitter Rich Reese.

Royals 7, Red Sox 0 at Kansas City (night game):
Staked to a five-run lead in the first inning, Dick Drago shut out the Red Sox, 7-0, to give the streaking Royals their fourth straight victory and 10th in the last 11 games. Freddie Patek led off with a safe bunt against Jim Lonborg and scored on a wild pickoff throw and single by Amos Otis. After two walks, Chuck Harrison hit a three-run double and scored himself on a single by Joe Keough. Otis also had three RBIs in the game, accounting for the others with a triple in the fourth and single in the sixth.

A's 13, Yankees 3 at Oakland (day game):
The Athletics supported Vida Blue with a 20-hit attack to enable the sensational southpaw to cruise past the Yankees, 13-3, for his 13th victory of the season. The A's piled up 18 singles and did not have an extra-base blow until Joe Rudi homered and Curt Blefary doubled in the eighth inning. Blue allowed five hits, including a homer by Roy White in the sixth.

Cubs 5, Reds 2 at Chicago (day game):
Ken Holtzman was foiled in his bid for a third consecutive shutout in starting roles, but the Cubs' lefthander gained credit for a 5-2 victory over the Reds with relief help from Ron Tompkins. Holtzman also hit one of the Cubs' three homers in the game, the others coming off the bats of Don Kessinger and Ron Santo. Holtzman allowed only one hit until the seventh when Johnny Bench homered. After Tony Perez doubled and George Foster walked with one away, Tompkins took over. Hal McRae singled to load the bases, but Ty Cline and Al Ferrara popped up. The Reds filled the sacks again in the eighth, but Tompkins escaped with only one run scoring on a sacrifice fly by Perez.

Astros 3, Braves 2 at Houston (night game):
The Astros struck early for three runs and made them stand up for a 3-2 victory over the Braves behind the seven-hit pitching of Ken Forsch. Two runs crossed the plate in the first inning on a single by Jesus Alou, an error by Sonny Jackson on a hit to center field, single by Cesar Cedeno, a wild pitch and a single by Bob Watson. What proved to be the winning run followed in the third when Watson tripled and Denis Menke lofted a sacrifice fly.

Dodgers 5, Expos 3 at Montreal (night game):
After Jim Lefebvre and Ron Fairly hit three-run homers in the first inning, the Dodgers broke the tie with a run in the second and added another in the fifth to defeat the Expos, 5-3. Willie Crawford and Dick Allen singled ahead of Lefebvre's smash. Fairly's tying homer followed walks to Mack Jones and Ron Hunt. A double by Steve Garvey, single by Bobby Valentine and groundout by Crawford sent the Dodgers ahead to stay in the second and their final run scored in the fifth on a triple by Crawford and single by Willie Davis.

Giants 5, Mets 1 at New York (day game):
Chris Speier batted in two runs with a double in the sixth inning and the Giants exploded for three more runs on homers by Bobby Bonds and Dick Dietz in the eighth to clinch a 5-1 victory over the Mets.

Phillies 3, Padres 0 at Philadelphia (night game):
The Phillies, who were handed three unearned runs in the first inning, used them to defeat the Padres, 3-0, behind the pitching of Jim Bunning and Darrell Brandon. Steve Arlin, the Padres' loser, struck out Terry Harmon but the Phils' leadoff batter reached base on a passed ball by Bob Barton. Tim McCarver flied to left and Leron Lee, newly acquired from the Cardinals, dropped the ball. Willie Montanez singled to score Harmon. After Deron Johnson flied out, Oscar Gamble doubled to drive in McCarver and Montanez. Harmon had a great day in the field for the Phils, handling 11 assists and seven putouts to set the modern major league record for most chances by a second baseman in one game.

Pirates 4, Cardinals 3 at St. Louis (night game):
Al Oliver smashed a tie with a two-out homer in the ninth inning to give the Pirates a 4-3 victory over the Cardinals. Willie Stargell doubled in two runs for the Pirates in the third and scored himself on a single by Bob Robertson, but the Cards pulled even before Oliver's homer pinned the loss on Rudy Arroyo.
