Today's scores and summaries:

Orioles 3, Yankees 1 at Baltimore (night game):
With catcher Elrod Hendricks providing support at bat, Pat Dobson pitched the Orioles to a 3-1 victory over the Yankees. Hendricks doubled and scored in the fourth inning and hit a homer with a man on base in the sixth.

Tigers 4, Indians 3 at Cleveland (night game):
Sam McDowell's six-game winning streak was snapped by the Tigers, who defeated the Indians, 4-3. McDowell was losing, 3-0, when removed for a pinch-hitter in the sixth inning and the Tigers added what proved to be the deciding run off Phil Hennigan in the eighth when Norm Cash tripled and Bill Freehan doubled for his third hit of the game.

Royals 5, Angels 0 at Kansas City (night game):
The Royals collected three runs in the first inning and went on to defeat the Angels, 5-0, behind the six-hit hurling of Dick Drago. In their opening burst, singles by Paul Schaal and Cookie Rojas, a double by Amos Otis, infield out by Chuck Harrison and single by Lou Piniella produced the Royals' runs. Rojas singled again in the seventh for the 1,000th hit of his major league career.

Twins 7, White Sox 6 at Minnesota (night game):
In a dramatic comeback, after the White Sox scored three runs in the 11th inning, the Twins rallied for four runs in their half to gain a 7-6 victory. A double by Mike Andrews and triple by Lee Richard helped the White Sox take their lead. Steve Braun started the Twins' comeback with a double, Cesar Tovar walked and Harmon Killebrew singled to load the bases. Tony Oliva drove in two runs with a single. After a safe bunt by Leo Cardenas reloaded the sacks, Rich Reese hit a sacrifice fly to tie the score and George Mitterwald singled for his fourth hit of the game to drive in the winning run.

Cubs 7, Cardinals 6 at Chicago (day game):
A single by Don Kessinger in the 10th inning for his sixth straight hit led to the run that gave the Cubs a 7-6 victory over the Cardinals. Kessinger was the first Cubs' player with six hits in a game since Frank Demaree turned the trick July 5, 1937. After Kessinger reached base, Glenn Beckert sacrificed, Billy Williams was passed intentionally and Ron Santo singled to drive in the winning run. The Cards tied a major league record by using five pitchers in one inning in the eighth when the Cubs tied the game at 5-5 on a double by Kessinger and single by Santo.

Reds 5, Braves 1 at Cincinnati (night game):
Jim McGlothlin turned in his first complete game of the season and Lee May batted in three runs with a single, double and sacrifice fly as the Reds defeated the Braves, 5-1.
