Today's scores and summaries:

Orioles 6, Yankees 4 at Baltimore (night game):
After falling behind, 4-0, Mike Cuellar was able to gain his ninth straight victory when the Orioles rallied to defeat the Yankees, 6-4. Horace Clarke and Bobby Murcer homered for the Yanks. The Orioles scored three runs in the third inning, one of them unearned on an error by Thurman Munson, who dropped the ball in a collision at the plate with Andy Etchebarren and was forced to leave the game. Ron Woods muffed a fly by Paul Blair in the fifth, opening the gates for the Orioles to win the game with three more unearned runs.

Indians 7, Tigers 0 at Cleveland (night game):
A free-for-all fight that umpire Jim Honochick described as the bloodiest he had seen in his 23 years in baseball marked the Indians' 7-0 victory over the Tigers. The fisticuffs started after Ray Fosse of the Indians was hit by a pitched ball thrown by Bill Denehy in the eighth inning. Chris Chambliss did his swinging at the plate, driving in four runs for the Indians with a homer and triple.

Royals 6, Angels 1 at Kansas City (night game):
The Royals piled up 14 hits, including four by Amos Otis, and defeated the Angels, 6-1, behind the seven-hit hurling of Paul Splittorff. Alex Johnson twice fumbled hits into left field, allowing the Royals to score two unearned runs.

A's 6, Brewers 2 at Milwaukee (night game):
A crowd of 27,474 turned out for Milwaukee's first 10-cent beer night, but the Athletics spoiled the fans' drinking pleasures by defeating the Brewers, 6-2. Catfish Hunter was tapped for 10 hits but recorded his 10th victory.

Twins 4, White Sox 3 at Minnesota (night game):
Jim Perry gained his 10th victory when the Twins defeated the White Sox, with the aid of three unearned runs. Leo Cardenas homered for the Twins in the second inning and their three tainted tallies followed in the fourth after Cardenas was safe on an error by Lee Richard. Perry batted in one run with a sacrifice bunt.

Senators 8, Red Sox 5 at Washington (night game):
Sonny Siebert, who opened the season with nine victories before losing his stuff, suffered his fourth straight defeat when the Senators beat the Red Sox, 8-5. The Senators collected six of their runs off Siebert on eight hits, including Dave Nelson's first homer in 425 times at bat in the major leagues. The third baseman, who was recalled from Denver (American Association) June 15, connected with two men on base in the fourth inning.

Cubs 15, Cardinals 5 at Chicago (day game):
The Cubs enjoyed their most profitable day at bat this season, getting 19 hits and thrashing the Cardinals, 15-5. Billy Williams, Jim Hickman, Ron Santo and Brock Davis each drove in three runs. Milt Pappas, who had been sidelined by a virus infection, made his first start since June 7 and lasted 6 1/3 innings before being removed after serving gopher pitches to Joe Hague and Bob Burda. Phil Regan received credit for his first "save" of the season, although tagged for the Cardinals' last three runs on five hits in the ninth.

Reds 6, Braves 1 at Cincinnati (night game):
An extra-base attack that included two homers by Lee May and one by Pete Rose powered the Reds to a 6-1 victory over the Braves. Johnny Bench had four straight hits, including a triple. George Foster rapped two doubles and Hal McRae and Tommy Helms hit one apiece.

Dodgers 5, Astros 4 at Los Angeles (night game):
A single by Wes Parker with the bases loaded in the seventh inning drove in two runs and broke a 3-3 tie to enable the Dodgers to defeat the Astros. A two-run triple by Jesus Alou brought the Astros even in the seventh, but a double by Maury Wills, a late throw to third on a bunt by Bill Buckner and a pass to Willie Davis loaded the sacks in the Dodgers' half. After Dick Allen forced Wills at the plate, Parker came through with his deciding single.

Mets 2, Phillies 0 at New York (night game):
Gary Gentry yielded only two singles and pitched the Mets to a 2-0 victory over the Phillies. Ken Reynolds, who hurled the first seven innings for the Phils, also allowed two hits, but they came in succession in the second when Donn Clendenon singled and Ken Singleton smashed a homer.

Pirates 9, Expos 8 at Pittsburgh (night game):
A triple by pinch-hitter Gene Clines and single by Dave Cash in the 11th inning gave the Pirates a 9-8 victory over the Expos in a slugfest marked by six homers. Willie Stargell and Al Oliver each connected with a man on base to account for the Pirates' first four runs. John Bateman hit a grand slam for the Expos in the seventh and Bob Bailey made it 8-4 with a two-run smash in the ninth. The Pirates rallied to tie the score in their half. Manny Sanguillen doubled and crossed the plate on a pinch-single by Bill Mazeroski. Cash and Richie Hebner followed with back-to-back homers.

[DH] Giants 7, Padres 3 (night game) / Giants 10, Padres 9 at San Francisco (night game):
After winning the first game behind Juan Marichal, 7-3, the Giants completed the sweep of a twi-night doubleheader with the Padres by rallying for five runs in the ninth inning to take the second game, 10-9. Bobby Bonds had four hits, including a homer, for the Giants in the opener. Cito Gaston deprived Marichal of a shutout by hitting for the circuit with two men on base in the ninth. The Giants were leading the nightcap, 5-4, going into the final frame when the Padres exploded for five runs. Nate Colbert started the uprising with a bases-empty homer and, after the Padres loaded the bases, Bob Barton smashed a grand-slam off Jerry Johnson. In the Giants' half, Chris Speier doubled and Tito Fuentes, Bonds, Ken Henderson and Fran Healy singled, producing two runs and leaving the sacks loaded. Dick Dietz then doubled to clear the bases, the winning run scoring when Gaston bobbled the ball in center field.
