Culp, who pitched a five-hitter, gave up the Indians' run in the second on a double by Kurt Bevacqua and single by McDowell. The Red Sox also were held to five hits by McDowell, who yielded the first run on a walk to Luis Aparicio and triple by Billy Conigliaro in the sixth.
White Sox 12, Royals 3 at Chicago (day game):
Continuing their transformation into a high-scoring club, the White Sox defeated the Royals, 12-3, to give them a total of 46 runs in a four-game winning streak. The White Sox, after taking a 6-2 lead, broke the game wide apart with six runs in the fifth inning. Bill Melton started the attack with a homer and other tallies followed on a single by Rich Reichardt, pass to Carlos May, double by Tom Egan, singles by Luis Alvarado and Lee Richard, a wild pitch and a double by Walt Williams.
[DH] Brewers 6, Angels 0 (night game) / Angels 9, Brewers 5 at Milwaukee (night game):

Parsons' shutout was his third of the year. The Brewers decided the outcome with three runs in the third inning on a walk, double by Johnny Briggs, triple by Roberto Pena and double by Phil Roof. In the second game, the Angels built up a 6-0 lead before Fisher began to weaken. He was lifted in the sixth inning and received credit for the victory with the assistance of Dave LaRoche and Lloyd Allen.
