Today's scores and summaries:

Tigers 3, Indians 0 at Detroit (night game):
With Mickey Lolich on the mound, the Tigers defeated the Indians, 3-0. Lolich, who posted his 10th complete game of the season, struck out 11. Chris Chambliss and Graig Nettles fanned four times apiece. The Tigers scored once in the first inning when Dick McAuliffe and Mickey Stanley singled and Norm Cash hit a sacrifice fly. A double by Aurelio Rodriguez, single by Gene Lamont, a sacrifice and single by McAuliffe added a pair in the seventh.

Brewers 6, Angels 0 at Milwaukee (day game):
After four hitless innings, the Brewers erupted for five runs in the fourth and defeated the Angels, 6-0, behind the pitching of Jim Slaton, who posted the first solo shutout of his major league career. Dave May had the biggest hit for the Brewers, driving in three runs with a bases-loaded double.

Orioles 6, Senators 1 at Washington (night game):
Dave McNally's mastery of the Senators continued when the Orioles' southpaw racked up a 6-1 victory to beat the capital city club for the 11th straight time since September 12, 1968. Don Buford started the Orioles on the road to triumph with a leadoff homer in the first inning. Brooks Robinson, who had two singles and a sacrifice fly, drove in three runs.

Phillies 3, Reds 1 at Cincinnati (night game):
A single by Roger Freed with the bases loaded and two out in the 10th inning drove in two runs and gave the Phillies a 3-1 victory over the Reds. Joe Lis homered for the Phils' first run in the sixth. The Reds, who were no-hit victims of Rick Wise in the previous night's game, continued in their scoring doldrums until doubles by Tony Perez and Bernie Carbo produced the tying run in the ninth. Larry Bowa singled for the Phillies in the 10th and, after a sacrifice, an intentional pass to Deron Johnson and another walk to Ron Stone loaded the bases. Willie Montanez struck out, leaving it up to Freed, who decided the game with his single.

Dodgers 11, Cardinals 4 at Los Angeles (day game):
The Dodgers sent 12 men to bat in the second inning and scored eight runs on two walks and seven hits to defeat the Cardinals, 11-4. Bill Buckner tripled and Willie Davis doubled, driving in two runs apiece. Jim Lefebvre homered with two men on base in the fourth inning.

Mets 2, Expos 1 at Montreal (night game):
Winning his own game, Tom Seaver smashed a homer in the eighth inning and pitched the Mets to a 2-1 victory over the Expos. Seaver, who allowed five hits, gave up the Expos' run in the second on a double by Bob Bailey and single by John Bateman. The Mets caught up in the fourth when Mike Jorgensen singled, stole second and scored on a single by Ed Kranepool. Seaver's homer, deciding his duel with Bill Stoneman, was only the second of the Met pitcher's major league career.
