Today's scores and summaries:

White Sox 4, Yankees 0 at Chicago (night game):
Tom Bradley, getting back on the beam with his fourth shutout of the season, pitched the White Sox to a 4-0 victory over the Yankees. The young righthander's triumph was only his first since June 30 and the complete game was his first since May 21. Tom Egan and Bill Melton whacked homers for the White Sox.

Angels 7, Indians 2 at Cleveland (night game):
Pitching in relief, Eddie Fisher allowed only two hits in the final 4 2/3 innings and gained the victory when the Angels defeated the Indians, 7-2. Fisher replaced Tom Murphy when the Indians threatened to erase the Angels' 3-2 lead. The Angels then pulled away to their final margin with the aid of homers by Billy Cowan and Ken McMullen.

Tigers 10, Royals 9 at Detroit (night game):
A four-run rally in the ninth inning that was capped when Fred Scherman was hit by a pitched ball with the bases loaded, enabled the Tigers to defeat the Royals, 10-9. Norm Cash hit a grand-slam homer for the Tigers in the fifth inning. Freddie Patek drove in four runs with a double and homer to help the Royals take a 9-6 lead before the Tigers came up for their last turn at bat. Singles by Gates Brown and Al Kaline with one out started the Tigers' comeback. Ted Abernathy, replacing Roger Nelson, walked Willie Horton to load the bases and then struck out Bill Freehan. Tom Burgmeier, brought in to face Cash, hit him with a pitch to force a run home. Jim Northrup singled, driving in two runs to tie the score. Dick McAuliffe walked to reload the bases. Scherman was next batter and manager Billy Martin let his relief pitcher go to the plate. Burgmeier threw three straight balls, followed with two strikes and then hit Scherman with a pitch to end the game.

Brewers 3, Red Sox 0 at Milwaukee (day game):
Marty Pattin allowed only four hits and posted his fourth shutout of the season as the Brewers defeated the Red Sox, 3-0. Bill Voss homered in the fourth inning and two other runs scored in the seventh on a single by Ron Theobald, a wild throw by Luis Tiant on a bunt by Ellie Rodriguez and a wild pitch.

Pirates 8, Dodgers 5 at Los Angeles (night game):
Homers by Bob Robertson and Gene Clines provided the dynamite as the Pirates exploded for six runs in the sixth inning to defeat the Dodgers, 8-5. The Dodgers were leading, 4-1, before Manny Sanguillen doubled in the sixth and Robertson hit his homer. After singles by Jackie Hernandez, Dave Cash and Vic Davalillo added another run, Clines hit his first major league homer to put the Pirates ahead. Willie Stargell also got into the slugging act with his 33rd homer of the season for the Pirates' final run in the seventh.

Cardinals 3, Mets 1 at New York (night game):
Matty Alou drove in two runs with a triple to enable the Cardinals to defeat the Mets, 3-1, in a game stopped by rain after eight innings. Alou singled, stole second and scored the Cardinals' first run on a single by Ted Simmons in the third. After the Mets tied the score, Dal Maxvill singled in the sixth, Jose Cruz walked and Alou drove them home with his triple.

Padres 5, Reds 1 at San Diego (night game):
Dave Roberts, the N. L. leader in earned run average, pitched the Padres to a 5-1 victory over the Reds. Despite his ERA, Roberts has had difficulties winning for the Padres and the victory was only his eighth against 11 defeats. The Padres backed their lefthander with an attack that included two run-scoring doubles by Dave Campbell.

Braves 4, Giants 2 at San Francisco (day game):
Zoilo Versalles smashed two homers in support of Ron Reed's six-hit pitching as the Braves defeated the Giants, 4-2. The veteran infielder's first homer tied the score at 2-2 in the seventh inning. The Braves then added the go-ahead run in the same stanza on singles by Reed, Felix Millan and Hank Aaron. Versalles slammed his other homer in the eighth for an insurance tally.
