Today's scores and summaries:

Red Sox 6, Angels 5 at Boston (night game):
The Red Sox snapped their seven-game losing streak when Billy Conigliaro broke out of a slugging slump with his first homer since June 9, connecting with two men on base in the ninth inning, to beat the Angels, 6-5. Joe Lahoud and George Scott homered in the seventh, Scott's blow coming with a man on base, to give the Red Sox a 3-1 lead, but the Angels scored four runs in the eighth with the help of an error and a wild pitch. However, Rico Petrocelli and Scott singled in the ninth and Conigliaro followed with his winning homer.

Orioles 3, Brewers 2 at Milwaukee (night game):
Frank Robinson, who has been feasting on Brewers' pitching this season, scored one run and drove in two to enable the Orioles to gain a 3-2 victory. Jim Palmer, who pitched a six-hitter for the Orioles, was the victim of two unearned runs in the third inning, but Frank Robinson doubled in the fourth and scored on a single by Brooks Robinson to start the Orioles' comeback. Mark Belanger and Palmer singled in the fifth and, after Don Buford struck out, Merv Rettenmund walked to load the bases. Boog Powell forced Belanger at the plate, but Frank Robinson came through in the clutch with a single, driving in the tying and winning runs.

Twins 11, Indians 2 at Minnesota (night game):
Cesar Tovar, Rod Carew and Tony Oliva, the first three batters in the Twins' order, collected three hits apiece to lead an 18-hit attack in a 11-2 victory over the Indians. Oliva, Harmon Killebrew, Rich Reese and Jim Holt each drove in two runs. Killebrew accounted for his RBIs with his first triple of the season in the sixth inning.

Cubs 3, Braves 0 at Atlanta (night game):
Fergie Jenkins allowed only two hits and pitched the Cubs past the Braves, 3-0, for his 19th victory of the season. Jenkins had a slim 1-0 margin in a duel with Tom Kelley until he clinched his own decision by driving in two runs with a double in the ninth inning. The Cubs' first run counted in the third on a double by Glenn Beckert and single by Billy Wiliams. Hank Aaron went hitless against Jenkins in three trips, ending his 22-game batting streak.

Reds 6, Cardinals 5 at Cincinnati (night game):
Fresh from perfect fielding in their four-game sweep over the Pirates, the Cardinals helped beat themselves with two errors, resutling in four unearned runs, and lost to the Reds, 6-5. The Cardinals were leading, 3-1, when errors by Lou Brock and Joe Torre helped the Reds go ahead, 5-3, in the eighth. The Cardinals got a reprieve in the ninth when Ted Simmons singled and Joe Hague homered to tie the score, but the Reds posted the winning run in their half on a walk to Tony Perez and singles by Johnny Bench and George Foster.

Mets 6, Dodgers 0 at Los Angeles (night game):
The Mets broke their five-game losing streak behind the pitching of Tom Seaver, who shut out the Dodgers, 6-0, and extended his scoreless streak to 27 innings, setting the Mets' club record. Seaver also had held the former mark of 26 zeroes in a row, estabished early this season. The Mets were handcuffed by Doyle Alexander until the sixth inning when they broke away with four runs, two scoring on a single by Ken Boswell with the bases loaded.

Pirates 8, Astros 3 at Pittsburgh (night game):
Shaking the Pirates out of their slump, Willie Stargell and Vic Davalillo swung big bats to lead the way to an 8-3 victory over the Astros. Stargell smashed four hits and drove in four runs, raising his RBI total to a career season high of 108. Davalillo, playing in place of Roberto Clemente, contributed two triples and a double to the Pirates' attack and batted in two runs. Bob Robertson accounted for the other RBIs with a pair of sacrifice flies. Dock Ellis, who pitched seven innings before his elbow tightened, gained his 17th victory. Dave Giusti finished. Doug Rader hit a homer for the Astros.
