Today's scores and summaries:

Orioles 8, White Sox 7 at Baltimore (night game):
Rain that washed out a two-run rally by the White Sox in the ninth inning enabled the Orioles to gain an 8-7 victory when the score reverted to eight full frames. Jim Palmer batted in three runs with a pair of singles as the Orioles stepped off to a 6-0 lead, but the White Sox struck back with four runs in the fifth, three scoring on a homer by Walt Williams. After the Orioles picked up a run in the sixth on a triple by Mark Belanger and single by Grant Jackson, who had relieved Palmer, the White Sox tied the score in the seventh. The Orioles went back in front in the eighth on a pass to Belanger, a sacrifice and single by Paul Blair. In the ninth, Mike Andrews hit a pinch-homer for the White Sox, Bill Melton doubled and scored on a single by Carlos May, but both runs were erased when rain intervened.

Senators 8, Angels 3 at California (night game):
Shattering a 3-3 tie, the Senators scored five runs after two were out in the ninth inning to defeat the Angels, 8-3. Toby Harrah doubled and Larry Biittner singled for the tie-breaking tally. A double by Del Unser and three walks produced two more runs. The last two then counted on a single by Lenny Randle.

Indians 10, Brewers 6 at Cleveland (night game):
Ray Fosse and Ted Uhlaender batted in three runs apiece and Graig Nettles and Roy Foster hit homers as the Indians outslugged the Brewers, 10-6. After falling behind, 4-0, the Indians started their attack with Nettles' homer in the second before taking the lead with four runs in the fourth. Foster ignited the outburst with his fourth homer in five games. Other runs followed on a single by Nettles, walk to Chris Chambliss, double by John Lowenstein and passes to Fred Stanley and Uhlaender. The Indians then nursed their slim lead until the seventh when two-run singles by Fosse and Uhlaender and a bases-loaded wild pitch put the game out of the Brewers' reach. Jose Cardenal and Tommy Harper hit homers for the Brewers.

Red Sox 7, Royals 0 at Kansas City (night game):
The Red Sox, after losing 11 straight times to the Royals, finally won the last meeting between the two clubs, 7-0. Ray Culp posted the shutout on a six-hitter. The Red Sox, after picking up a run in the first inning on two walks and a single by Doug Griffin, erupted for four in the fifth, three scoring on a homer by Reggie Smith. Rico Petrocelli and Joe Lahoud hit successive triples and Mike Fiore doubled for the last two tallies in the sixth.
