Today's scores and summaries:

Red Sox 3, Orioles 0 at Boston (day game):
After failing in seven previous tries, Sonny Siebert used his arm and his bat to gain his 15th victory for the Red Sox, beating the Orioles, 3-0. Siebert, who pitched a three-hitter, took care of the entire Boston offense, smashing two homers and driving in all three runs.

Tigers 7, Indians 0 at Detroit (night game):
Mickey Lolich gained his 22nd victory for the Tigers and posted his third shutout of the season by beating the Indians, 7-0. Bill Freehan batted in three runs with a homer, single and sacrifice fly. Norm Cash accounted for two with a triple and single.

Brewers 1, Royals 0 at Milwaukee (day game):
The Brewers, who were held to only one hit, scored without the benefit of a safety in the second inning to edge the Royals, 1-0. Mike Hedlund, pitching for the Royals, beat himself by hitting Jose Cardenal with a pitch and walking Dave May. Cardenal advanced to third on a grounder by Darrell Porter and crossed the plate on another infield out by Tom Matchick. Ron Theobald singled in the third for the Brewers' only hit.

Yankees 11, Senators 1 at New York (night game):
The Yankees piled up 11 runs in the first two innings and breezed to an 11-1 victory over the Senators. Jim Shellenback, who had beaten the Yankees the last three previous times he had faced them, was kayoed in the first without retiring a batter. Horace Clarke walked, Thurman Munson and Bobby Murcer singled and Roy White walked before Shellenback departed. A pair of passed balls and a wild pitch by Casey Cox followed as the Yankees took a 4-0 lead. The Yankees turned the game into a rout with seven runs in the second. Singles by Clarke, Munson, Murcer and White produced two runs before Felipe Alou homered with two men on base. Clarke, coming up later for his second time at bat in the stanza, doubled off Mike Thompson to add two more runs.

Expos 9, Cubs 5 at Chicago (day game):
Ernie McAnally, who helped himself with a three-run homer, received credit for his fifth straight victory, tying the Montreal club record, when the Expos defeated the Cubs, 9-5. The Expos sent 10 men to bat and scored six runs on only two hits in the sixth inning. Ron Woods walked, Rusty Staub was hit by a pitch and, after a sacrifice by Bob Bailey, Gary Sutherland was handed an intentional pass to load the bases. John Bateman popped up, but John Boccabella doubled to drive in three runs. The Cubs then walked Bobby Wine purposely to get at McAnally, who upset the strategy with his first major league homer. McAnally was forced out in the home half of the sixth, when the Cubs rallied for three runs, but Mike Marshall pitched the rest of the way to record his 19th save.

Astros 9, Dodgers 3 at Houston (night game):
A short fly by Cesar Cedeno turned into a grand-slam hpmer to lead the Astros to a 9-3 victory over the Dodgers. In the fifth inning, Larry Howard walked and took third on a single by Marty Martinez, but was out trying to score on a squeeze bunt by Don Wilson. After Jesus Alou flied out, Joe Morgan walked to load the bases. Cedeno then hit a fly to short right field. Jim Lefebvre and Bill Buckner almost ran into each other going after the ball and it bounced away from them as Cedeno circled the bases behind his three teammates.

Mets 3, Phillies 1 at Philadelphia (night game):
The Mets took advantage of an error by Larry Hisle and scored two unearned runs in the eighth inning to defeat the Phillies, 3-1. Hisle, playing his first game since being recalled from Eugene (Pacific Coast), dropped a fly by Bud Harrelson in left field. Wayne Garrett followed with an infield hit. After the runners moved up on a wild pitch by Rick Wise, Harrelson scored on a single by Cleon Jones to break a 1-1 tie and Garrett came home on a grounder by Ed Kranepool, beating the throw to the plate.
