Today's scores and summaries:

Orioles 1, Tigers 0 at Baltimore (night game):
The Orioles collected only two hits off Tom Timmerman, but one of them was a homer by Paul Blair in the fourth inning and that was enough to beat the Tigers, 1-0. Pat Dobson, who was the winner, held the Tigers to three singles.

Dodgers 11, Braves 1 at Atlanta (night game):
Although Claude Osteen had not pitched competitively since appearing in an exhibition game March 28, the Dodgers' lefthander breezed to an 11-1 victory over the Braves. Oscar Brown wrecked Osteen's bid for a shutout with a homer in the ninth inning. The Dodgers' 18 hits included seven consecutive singles during a six-run outburst in the second inning.

Pirates 7, Cubs 5 at Pittsburgh (night game):
Willie Stargell, who led the major leagues in homers with 48 last year, found the range for the first time this season to help the Pirates defeat the Cubs, 7-5. After Stargell's homer in the seventh inning, the Pirates added two more runs to take a 7-3 lead on two walks, singles by Manny Sanguillen and Gene Alley and a sacrifice fly by Dave Cash. The Cubs rallied against Dock Ellis in the ninth and scored twice on two walks and a double by Don Kessinger before Dave Giusti arrived to put out the fire.

Giants 2, Padres 1 at San Diego (night game):
Willie Mays and Bobby Bonds each drove in a run in the fifth inning to enable the Giants to defeat the Padres, 2-1. Chris Speier opened the stanza with a single and counted on a double by Mays. After an infield out by Tito Fuentes and pass to Ken Henderson, Bonds singled to score Mays. Sam McDowell, who started for the Giants, left after five innings for a pinch-hitter, but received credit for his second victory. Nate Colbert homered off Jim Barr for the Padres' run.
