Today's scores and summaries:

Rangers 6, Angels 4 at Texas (night game):
The Rangers completed a four-game sweep of their first home series by defeating the Angels, 6-4. Toby Harrah, who singled and scored the Rangers' first run in the fifth inning, batted in two tallies with another single in the sixth to the tie game at 3-3. After the Angels regained the lead with a run in the seventh, the Rangers loaded the bases on a single by Dave Nelson and two walks in their half. Larry Biittner then singled to drive in two runs. Elliott Maddox walked to reload the sacks and Harrah drew a pass to force in the final tally.

Astros 3, Cubs 2 at Houston (night game):
Although allowing only four hits, Fergie Jenkins was the loser when Johnny Edwards homered with one out in the 11th inning to give the Astros a 3-2 victory over the Cubs. Ron Santo accounted for the Cubs' runs with a homer off Ken Forsch in the first and Lee May tied the score with a similar two-run blow off Jenkins in the Astros' half. Jim Ray relieved for the Astros in the 10th and was the winner. The victory was the Astros' seventh in succession, while the Cubs went down to their sixth straight defeat.
