Today's scores and summaries:

Orioles 11, Red Sox 2 at Boston (day game):
The slugging of Merv Rettenmund, Boog Powell and Paul Blair enabled the Orioles to end their four-game losing streak with an 11-2 victory over the Red Sox. Rettenmund, who singled and scored in the first inning, homered with a man on base in the fifth and doubled in another run in the seventh. The Orioles then erupted for six runs in the eighth, two counting on a homer by Powell and three crossing the plate on a double by Blair, who also scored himself on a single by Bobby Grich. Carlton Fisk set a Red Sox record for most homers by a catcher, hitting his 18th of the season.

[DH] White Sox 10, Rangers 1 (day game) / White Sox 7, Rangers 1 at Chicago (day game):
Wilbur Wood gained his 18th victory and Tom Bradley posted his 12th with route-going performances as the White Sox romped over the Rangers in a doubleheader, 10-1 and 7-1. Wood enjoyed a breeze in the opener after the White Sox sent 11 men to bat against Pete Broberg in the second inning and scored six runs, two counting on a single by Dick Allen. Wood had a run-scoring single during that stanza and added his second RBI with another single in the seventh. The White Sox decided the nightcap in Bradley's favor when Allen homered in the sixth inning and, after Ed Spiezio was safe on an error, Ed Herrmann also hit for the circuit.

[DH] Indians 2, Tigers 1 (day game) / Tigers 6, Indians 5 at Cleveland (day game):
Homers by Jerry Moses and Chris Chambliss carried the Indians to a 2-1 victory in the first game of a doubleheader before the Tigers came back with two circuit clouts by Mickey Stanley and one by Willie Horton to win the second game, 6-5. Steve Dunning, who gave up a homer by Jim Northrup for the Tigers' run, gained his first victory of the season in the opener with the aid of Steve Mingori, who relieved in the seventh inning. In the nightcap, Stanley belted a two-run homer in the second to pace the Tigers to a 3-1 lead, but the Indians went ahead with four runs in the seventh, three scoring on a round-tripper by Eddie Leon. Bill Freehan singled and Horton homered to tie the score in the eighth and, one out later, Stanley provided the winning run with his second smash of the game.

[DH] Angels 4, Royals 3 (day game) / Angels 3, Royals 2 at Kansas City (day game):
Extra-base hits proved the difference for the Angels in sweeping a doubleheader with the Royals, 4-3 and 3-2. In the first game, the Angels ended Roger Nelson's streak of 27 scoreless innings of pitching when Leo Cardenas tripled in the sixth and scored on a sacrifice fly by Ken McMullen. Leroy Stanton tripled in the seventh and counted on a sacrifice fly by Vada Pinson. McMullen homered in the eighth. Stanton then doubled in the ninth and scored the winning run on a single by Sandy Alomar. In the nightcap, a double by Andy Kosco and single by Bob Oliver in the fourth inning and a double by Ken Berry and single by Alomar in the fifth produced the Angels' first two runs before Oliver decided the outcome with a homer in the eighth. John Mayberry had a homer for the Royals.

[DH] Yankees 3, Brewers 0 (day game) / Yankees 6, Brewers 4 at Milwaukee (day game):

John Ellis accounted for two Yankee runs with a homer in the sixth. The Brewers scored all their runs in the nightcap in the first inning, three coming on a round-tripper by Tommie Reynolds, and held a 4-3 lead going into the ninth when Bernie Allen tied the score with a homer. Jerry Kenney singled for the Yankees in the 10th, stole second and counted the tie-breaking run on a two-out single by Thurman Munson. Bobby Murcer followed with a double to add an insurance marker.
