Today's scores and summaries:

Yankees 5, Brewers 2 at Milwaukee (night game):
With help from designated hitter Jim Ray Hart, who drove in two runs and scored one, Doc Medich received credit for his first major league victory when the Yankees defeated the Brewers, 5-2. Hart batted in a run with a single in the fourth inning and another counted on a walk to Gene Michael with the bases loaded. Hart got his other RBI with a double in the fifth and crossed the plate himself on a single by Felipe Alou. Pedro Garcia and Bob Coluccio hit homers for the Brewers' tallies.

Angels 4, A's 0 at Oakland (night game):
While Rudy May pitched a shutout on a five-hitter, the Angels handed Blue Moon Odom his fourth straight setback by defeating the Athletics, 4-0. Odom allowed six hits. Odom walked Rudy Meoli in the third inning and seemed in no danger when the next two batters grounded into forceouts, but the Angels then struck for three runs. Bobby Valentine singled and Vada Pinson doubled for the first tally and Frank Robinson followed with a two-run single. Billy Grabarkewitz tripled and Art Kusnyer hit a sacrifice fly for the final marker in the fourth.

Astros 2, Padres 0 at Houston (night game):
Doug Rader homered after a pass to Jim Wynn in the second inning to carry the Astros to a 2-0 victory over the Padres. Bill Greif, who allowed five hits in six innings on the mound, was the loser. Dave Roberts was the winner with ninth-inning help from Jim York.
