An intentional pass to Carl Yastrzemski and single by Orlando Cepeda loaded the bases. Rico Petrocelli singled to plate two runs. Following a pass to Rick Miller that filled the sacks again, Bob Montgomery hit a grand-slam homer. The Red Sox continued their attack with a double by Hunter, who crossed the plate with the last run on a single by Harper.
