With a spark from Brooks Robinson, the Orioles defeated the Twins, 4-3, for their 10th straight victory. The Twins scored all their runs in the first inning on a single by Larry Hisle, doubles by Rod Carew and Bobby Darwin and single by Jim Holt. In the Orioles' half, Rich Coggins and Tommy Davis walked and Boog Powell singled to load the bases. On a 3-and-2 pitch, Robinson singled to clear the bases and tie the score. The Orioles then posted the winning run in the fifth when Al Bumbry singled, took third on a single by Coggins and crossed the plate as Davis bounced into a double play.

Angels 5, Brewers 4 at California (night game):
Pinch-hitter Joe Lahoud hit a grand-slam homer for the Brewers in the ninth inning, but the Angels tied the score in their half and won in the 10th, 5-4, on a homer by Leroy Stanton. Frank Robinson homered in the first inning and Mike Epstein in the second for the Angels, who added their third run when Ken Berry doubled and Jeff Torborg singled in the seventh. The Brewers, held to two hits by Bill Singer going into the ninth, loaded the bases on a walk to Don Money, single by George Scott and pass to Johnny Briggs before Lahoud hit his grand slam off Aurelio Monteagudo, who was the Angels' third pitcher of the inning. The Angels came back with the tying run on a pinch-single by Richie Scheinblum and double by Robinson.
