Today's scores and summaries:

Angels 6, Brewers 3 at California (night game):
Two walks with the bases loaded in a five-run rally helped the Angels gain a 6-3 victory over the Brewers. Trailing, 3-1, the Angels put Frank Robinson on base with a pass in the seventh inning before Bill Champion, Brewers' starter, left the game with a broken fingernail on his pitching hand. Bob Oliver greeted Eduardo Rodriguez with a double and Leroy Stanton singled to drive in Robinson. After Ken Berry bunted to load the bases, Chris Short relieved. Short walked Winston Llenas to force in the tying run and also passed Sandy Alomar to send the Angels ahead. Vada Pinson then iced the decision with a two-run single.

Cubs 4, Reds 3 at Chicago (day game):
Coming back after the Reds went ahead in the 10th inning, the Cubs rallied for two runs to gain a 4-3 victory. Andy Kosco homered for the Reds and Ron Santo for the Cubs in the early going before the clubs went into overtime. The Reds took the lead in the 10th when Larry Stahl doubled and Billy Williams, playing first base, threw past pitcher Bob Locker covering the bag on a grounder by Pete Rose. The Cubs also benefited from an error in their rally. Santo grounded to Clay Carroll and reached second on the pitcher's wild throw. Matt Alexander ran for Santo and scored the tying run on a sacrifice by Jose Cardenal and single by Paul Popovich. Randy Hundley singled, Popovich stopping at second. Jim Hickman followed with a single, but Popovich was out trying to score. However, Don Kessinger came through with another single and Hundley crossed the plate with the winning run.

Dodgers 5, Mets 4 at New York (night game):
Hitting his third double of the game, Joe Ferguson drove in Willie Davis with the tie-breaking run in the sixth inning to enable the Dodgers to defeat the Mets, 5-4. Doubles by Ferguson and Willie Crawford produced the Dodgers' first run in the fourth. Willie Davis hit a two-run homer in the fifth and another Dodger run followed in the same stanza on Ferguson's second two-bagger and a single by Bill Russell. After the Mets tied the score at 4-4, Davis singled in the sixth and raced home on Ferguson's decisive double.

Phillies 6, Padres 3 at Philadelphia (night game):
Bill Robinson hit two homers and Greg Luzinski rapped one to pace the Phillies to a 6-3 victory over the Padres. Robinson's first homer of the game and 20th of the season accounted for two of the Phillies' four runs in the first inning. Luzinski and Robinson then hit back-to-back homers in the sixth. Dave Roberts had a double, triple and homer for the Padres.
