Today's scores and summaries:

Orioles 6, Royals 0 at Baltimore (night game):
The Orioles extended their winning streak to 11 games behind the pitching of Dave McNally, who shut out the Royals, 6-0. Bobby Grich had a perfect night at the plate with four singles and drove in three runs. Al Bumbry and Rich Coggins rapped three hits apiece, Coggins' collection including a homer and double. McNally's shutout was his third of the season and 28th of the lefthander's major league career.

Red Sox 3, Angels 2 at California (night game):
A sacrifice fly by Ben Oglivie drove in an unearned run in the sixth inning to enable the Red Sox to defeat the Angels, 3-2. The first two Red Sox runs in the first and third innings came on the same combination of singles by Carl Yastrzemski, Orlando Cepeda and Carlton Fisk. With the score tied in the sixth, Cecil Cooper walked, advanced to third on a throwing error by Jeff Torborg and scored on Oglivie's fly.

Tigers 6, White Sox 5 at Chicago (night game):
Pinch-hitting with a man on base and two out in the ninth inning, Norm Cash hit a score-tying homer and the Tigers then followed with another run on a double by Mickey Stanley and single by Tony Taylor to defeat the White Sox, 6-5.

Indians 11, Rangers 5 at Cleveland (night game):
Frank Duffy, who previously had only three homers in his major league career, smashed his first two of the season and drove in four runs to lead the Indians' attack in an 11-5 victory over the Rangers.

Twins 3, Brewers 0 at Minnesota (night game):
Getting four-hit pitching from Joe Decker, who struck out 10, the Twins snapped a six-game losing streak by defeating the Brewers, 3-0. George Mitterwald and Larry Hisle hit homers and the Twins' other run counted on singles by Steve Brye and Rod Carew around a sacrifice bunt by Jerry Terrell.

A's 5, Yankees 1 at Oakland (night game):
Reggie Jackson batted in two runs with a pair of singles and Dick Green accounted for two with a homer to lead the Athletics to a 5-1 victory over the Yankees. Catfish Hunter held the Yankees to three hits until one out in the eighth when Horace Clarke and Matty Alou singled. Darold Knowles relieved and on his first pitch, Roy White grounded into an inning-ending double play.

Braves 3, Pirates 2 at Atlanta (night game):
Although held to only four hits, the Braves were able to beat the Pirates, 3-2, when Dusty Baker smashed a two-run homer in the ninth inning. Nelson Briles held the Braves to one hit in the first six frames before leaving the game with back trouble. Luke Walker inherited a 2-0 lead, but the Braves scored an unearned run in the eighth on a single by Marty Perez, error by Dal Maxvill and a wild pitch. Darrell Evans opened the ninth with a single, leading to the exit of Walker in favor of Dave Giusti, who served up Baker's homer.

Cardinals 5, Reds 4 at Cincinnati (night game):
Following a clutch pitching performance by Diego Segui in the 10th inning, Jose Cruz homered for the Cardinals in the 11th to defeat the Reds, 5-4. In the Reds' 10th, Dan Driessen walked, stole second and reached third on a wild pitch. Segui walked Tony Perez and Johnny Bench to load the bases with none out, but then struck out Larry Stahl and Andy Kosco and retired Darrel Chaney on a fly to kill off the Reds' threat.

Astros 4, Cubs 2 at Houston (night game):
Jerry Reuss, who won 14 games with the Cardinals in 1971, equaled that total for the Astros by defeating the Cubs, 4-2. The Cubs loaded the bases against the lefthander in the third inning and scored on infield outs by Rico Carty and Ron Santo. However. when Cubs loaded the bases again in the ninth, this time with two out, Reuss retired Andre Thornton to gain his victory.
