Today's scores and summaries:

Red Sox 4, Royals 1 at Boston (night game):
Carl Yastrzemski hit a single and two homers, driving in three runs, to provide the Red Sox with a 4-1 victory over the Royals. The Red Sox started off with a pair off Nelson Briles on a single by Tommy Harper, double by Doug Griffin and Yastrzemski's single. Briles left the game in the fifth with knee trouble and Yastrzemski then hit his homers off Gene Garber in the sixth and eighth. Rick Wise was the winner but failed to finish, being removed after six innings when his arm tightened. Diego Segui finished and picked up his second save.

Astros 7, Braves 0 at Houston (night game):
While Claude Osteen pitched a shutout, Cesar Cedeno hit two homers and drove in five of the Astros' runs in a 7-0 victory over the Braves. Both of Cedeno's blasts came off Roric Harrison, one with Roger Metzger aboard in the fifth inning and the other with Metzger and Greg Gross on base in the seventh.
