Yankees 7, Rangers 5 at Texas (night game):
Elliott Maddox drove in four runs, including two with a double in the ninth inning, to give the Yankees a 7-5 victory over the Rangers. Maddox got his first RBI with a triple in the opening frame and scored himself on a sacrifice fly by Thurman Munson before driving in his second run with a single in the fifth. After the Rangers tied the score at 5-5, Maddox hit his double in the ninth to send Sandy Alomar and Bobby Bonds across the plate.
