Brewers 1, Angels 0 at Milwaukee (night game):
With Jim Colborn and Eduardo Rodriguez collaborating on a three-hitter, the Brewers made Don Money's home run in the first inning stand up for a 1-0 victory over the Angels. Money's second homer of the season was one of two hits yielded by Frank Tanana, who had 12 strikeouts in a losing cause.

Dodgers 7, Pirates 1 at Los Angeles (night game):
Tommy John, recovering from elbow surgery, checked the Pirates through seven innings and was credited with his first victory since July 7, 1974, as the Dodgers defeated Pittsburgh, 7-1. Mike Marshall finished after relieving in the eighth. Ron Cey hit a two-run homer in the first.

Mets 3, Braves 1 at New York (day game):
Mickey Lolich pitched a five-hitter and had nine strikeouts in posting his first National League victory after three defeats as the Mets defeated the Braves, 3-1. Ron Hodges drove in two runs with a single in the second.

Phillies 10, Reds 9 at Philadelphia (night game):
Mike Schmidt hit his 10th and 11th home runs in April, tying the major league record shared by Willie Stargell of the Pirates and Graig Nettles of the Yankees when the Phillies outslugged the Reds, 10-9. The winning run scored when Dave Cash singled in the eighth, advanced on an error, reached third on Larry Bowa's sacrifice and scored on a passed ball by Johnny Bench, his first since 1974.

Padres 6, Cubs 2 at San Diego (night game):
A two-run triple by rookie Jerry Turner keyed a three-run fifth inning that carried the Padres to a 6-2 triumph over the Cubs.

Cardinals 15, Giants 7 at San Francisco (day game):
The Cardinals capitalized on five errors by the Giants to score 10 unearned runs and win, 15-7, after spotting San Francisco a six-run lead in the first inning. Ron Fairly had four hits and drove in three St. Louis runs. Ken Reitz hit a three-run homer in the first, when San Francisco scored all its runs.
