Today's scores and summaries:

Orioles 3, Angels 2 at Baltimore (night game):
A no-hit pitcher for six innings, Nolan Ryan left the game after two more frames and the Orioles then scored an unearned run off Dick Drago in the 10th to defeat the Angels, 3-2. A walk to Doug DeCinces and triple by Brooks Robinson in the seventh accounted for the Orioles' first hit and first run. The Orioles then tied the score in the eighth on singles by Tony Muser and Royle Stillman around a sacrifice bunt. In the 10th, with Drago on the hill for the Angels, Andres Mora singled and raced to third when Drago threw wildly on a bunt by Ken Singleton. Following an intentional pass to Elrod Hendricks, Mark Belanger singled to drive in the winning run.

Tigers 10, A's 2 at Detroit (day game):
A grand-slam homer by Rusty Staub, plus four hits by Jason Thompson, led the Tigers to a 10-2 victory over the Athletics. Thompson, rookie first baseman from Evansville (American Association), was playing in only his third major league game.

Indians 7, Twins 5 at Minnesota (day game):
Aided by George Hendrick, who hit his first two homers of the season, the Indians defeated the Twins, 7-5. However, the Indians did not clinch their victory until the seventh inning when singles by Doug Howard and Duane Kuiper and a sacrifice fly by Rick Manning produced the final three runs.

Yankees 1, Rangers 0 at Texas (night game):
With one-out help from Sparky Lyle, Dock Ellis gained the decision over Gaylord Perry when the Yankees defeated the Rangers, 1-0. In the ninth, Thurman Munson singled, advanced on a grounder and scored the lone run on a single by Oscar Gamble. Lyle replaced Ellis in the Rangers' half and retired the final batter.

Dodgers 5, Pirates 3 at Los Angeles (night game):
After giving up seven hits in the first three innings, Doug Rau settled down and pitched the Dodgers to a 5-3 victory over the Pirates with last-out help from Charlie Hough. Even with their seven hits, the Pirates scored only two runs. The Dodgers went ahead with three in the third and added two more in the fourth on a single by Rau, triple by Bill Buckner and single by Ted Sizemore. After the Pirates picked up a run in the ninth, Hough relieved Rau and retired Manny Sanguillen for the final out of the game.

Mets 6, Braves 5 at New York (day game):
Winning their fourth straight game, the Mets defeated the Braves, 6-5, when Bruce Boisclair hit a two-run, two-out double in the ninth inning. Dave Kingman, who had homered previously in the game, led off the rally with a single. With one away, Jerry Grote singled and with two out John Milner also singled to plate John Stearns, who ran for Kingman. Boisclair then hit his double to drive in the tying and winning runs.

Reds 7, Phillies 3 at Philadelphia (night game):
Johnny Bench, who entered the game batting only .140, gave signs of breaking out of his slump by hitting a single and two doubles as the Reds defeated the Phillies, 7-3. The Reds knocked out Tom Underwood in the first inning, scoring five runs, including two on Bench's first double of the game. Pete Rose led off with a single and, after Dave Concepcion struck out, the next five batters including Bench delivered hits in succession. Joel Youngblood rapped a triple.

Cubs 4, Padres 2 at San Diego (night game):
Dave Wehrmeister, rookie righthander from Hawaii (Pacific Coast), suffered his third straight defeat when the Cubs beat the Padres, 4-2. Manny Trillo knocked in the Cubs' first run with a single in the second inning. After Hector Torres homered in the Padres' half, the Cubs went ahead again in the third with singles by Rick Monday, Jose Cardenal and Bill Madlock. Two runs in the fifth on a double by Cardenal, single by Jerry Morales, a late throw to the plate on a grounder by Andre Thornton, a wild pitch and sacrifice fly by Trillo then clinched the decision for the Cubs.

Cardinals 7, Giants 1 at San Francisco (night game):
Lynn McGlothen, returning to action after serving a five-day suspension for a beanball incident, pitched the Cardinals to a 7-1 victory over the Giants. John D'Acquisto, making his first start for the Giants in nearly one year after undergoing arm surgery, beat himself with wildness, walking five batters in the second inning when the Cardinals scored four times on only two hits -- a double by Willie Crawford and single by Keith Hernandez.
