Twins 5, Royals 4 at Kansas City (day game):
Defensive replacement Lyman Bostock doubled to score Jerry Terrell in the 10th inning and send Minnesota to a 5-4 victory over the Royals. Terrell was running for Tony Oliva, who opened the 10th with a pinch-double.

A's 6, Angels 3 at Oakland (night game):
Paul Mitchell, described as the key man in the Oakland trade that sent Reggie Jackson to the Orioles, limited California to six hits and had 10 strikeouts in pitching the A's to a 6-3 victory.

White Sox 7, Rangers 6 at Texas (night game):
The White Sox shaded Texas, 7-6, in 11 innings to end the Rangers' eight-game winning streak. Ralph Garr, who had delivered a two-run homer in the ninth, doubled to score Pat Kelly with the winning run in the 11th. Texas, trailing by three runs with two out in the ninth, used two walks, a hit batsman and singles by Bill Fahey and Juan Beniquez to send the game into extra innings.

Dodgers 4, Cardinals 3 at St. Louis (night game):
Two-run homers by Joe Ferguson and Ron Cey powered the Dodgers past the Cardinals, 4-3. Cey's sixth homer of the season, coming with one out in the ninth, gave the Dodgers their 13th victory in 15 games.
