Today's scores and summaries:

Yankees 4, Orioles 3 at Baltimore (night game):
Reggie Jackson's second sacrifice fly of the game sent Willie Randolph home in the ninth inning and gave the Yankees a 4-3 victory over the Orioles. A walk to Randolph, single by Thurman Munson and Jackson's first sacrifice fly started the scoring in the opening frame. Doug DeCinces homered for the Orioles and Chris Chambliss for the Yankees to help effect a 3-3 tie before Randolph doubled in the ninth, moved to third on an infield hit by Munson and scored on Jackson's fly.

A's 7, Angels 5 at California (night game):
Manny Sanguillen, who was on a hot streak with 12 hits in 16 at-bats, rapped a homer and single, driving in three runs, to help the Athletics rally for a 7-5 victory over the Angels. Ron Jackson hit a two-run homer for the Angels, who jumped off to a 5-0 lead in the first two innings and then failed to hold it. The A's began their comeback with four runs in the third, two scoring on a single by Dick Allen and one apiece on singles by Sanguillen and Earl Williams. Sanguillen hit his homer following a single by Mitchell Page in the fifth and Willams clinched the outcome with a round-tripper in the seventh.

Blue Jays 6, Indians 5 at Cleveland (night game):
Bob Bailor led off the game with a homer and drove in the winning run with a single in the 12th inning as the Blue Jays posted a 6-5 victory, handing the Indians their seventh straight defeat. After Bailor's blow in the first inning, Doug Ault homered with two men on base to give the Blue Jays a 4-0 lead. Andre Thornton rapped a round-tripper for the Indians in the seventh, but Ron Fairly matched it with a homer for the Blue Jays in the eighth. The Indians then rallied in the ninth to force the game into overtime. After the Indians loaded the bases on two passes and an infield hit by Fred Kendall, Rick Manning walked to force in the first run and Bill Melton followed with a pinch-double, clearing the sacks and tying the score. In the 12th, Alan Ashby walked, Pedro Garcia sacrificed and Bailor won the game for the Blue Jays with his single.

Tigers 10, White Sox 9 at Detroit (day game):
The White Sox smashed five homers, but the blows failed to prevent a 10-9 loss to the Tigers, who countered with two circuit clouts including a grand slam by Jason Thompson. Richie Zisk started the White Sox slugging with a two-run blast in the first inning. Milt May homered for the Tigers in the second and Thompson hit his grand slam in the third when the Tigers erupted for seven runs to take an 8-3 lead. Homers by Royle Stillman, Eric Soderholm and Chet Lemon helped the White Sox tie the score, but the Tigers loaded the bases in the sixth and got the winning blow from Steve Kemp, who singled to drive in two runs. The White Sox finished one run short after Oscar Gamble connected as a pinch-hitter in the eighth for their fifth homer of the game. The White Sox did better on June 18, 1974, smashing six in a game against the Indians.

Rangers 5, Royals 0 at Kansas City (night game):
Bert Blyleven continued his mastery of the Royals by pitching the Rangers to a 5-0 victory. The shutout was Blyleven's sixth of his career against the Royals and the victory was his fifth straight since 1975 and his 18th against 10 defeats in meetings with the Kaycee crew. The game was memorable for Juan Beniquez, who hit his first homer in a Ranger uniform and drove in three runs.

Brewers 4, Red Sox 2 at Milwaukee (night game):
With a single by Robin Yount as the key blow, the Brewers broke a tie with two runs in the eighth inning and defeated the Red Sox, 4-2. Sixto Lezcano accounted for the Brewers' initial pair, driving them home with a double in the fourth. The Red Sox had a homer by Carlton Fisk. In the eighth, Mike Hegan walked and gave way on the paths to Tim Johnson. After a sacrifice by Von Joshua, Yount rapped his single for the tie-breaking tally. Yount moved up an extra base when Dwight Evans bobbled the ball in the outfield and scored an insurance run on a single by Dan Thomas.

Twins 5, Mariners 3 at Minnesota (day game):
A bases-loaded single by Butch Wynegar capped a three-run rally in the seventh inning and enabled the Twins to defeat the Mariners, 5-3. With the score tied, 2-2. Dan Ford led off with a triple and scored on a single by Rob Wilfong. Following two passes, Wynegar slashed his single to provide the Twins' winning margin. Tom Johnson gained his third straight victory in relief but needed help from Tom Burgmeier after the Mariners rallied for a run in the ninth on a double by Steve Braun and single by Ruppert Jones.

Reds 3, Braves 1 at Atlanta (night game):
Ken Griffey drove in one run in the first inning and scored another to start the Reds off to a 3-1 victory over the Braves. Pat Zachry, the only Reds' pitcher to go the route so far this season, turned the trick for the second time. Pete Rose opened the game by drawing a walk and raced home when Griffey doubled. Dan Driessen singled to score Griffey. The Reds' other run came in the fourth on singles by Driessen and Johnny Bench around a stolen base.

Cardinals 21, Cubs 3 at Chicago (day game):
The Cardinals went on one of the biggest scoring sprees in their long history and overwhelmed the Cubs, 21-3. Ted Simmons and Hector Cruz drove in four runs apiece to lead the attack in support of John Denny, who gained his fifth straight victory. The Cardinal and modern National League record for runs in one game is 28 against the Phillies July 6, 1929.

Expos 3, Mets 2 at New York (night game):
A homer by Ellis Valentine with a man on base capped a three-run rally in the third inning as the Expos took advantage of an error by Dave Kingman to defeat the Mets, 3-2. Andre Dawson led off with a single and sped to third on a sacrifice bunt by Steve Rogers when the Mets left the bag uncovered. After Dave Cash was retired for the second out, Pepe Frias tapped to Jerry Koosman, but Kingman dropped the pitcher's throw to first, allowing Dawson to score. Valentine followed with his decisive homer.

Pirates 7, Phillies 3 at Pittsburgh (night game):
Two doubles by Dave Parker were among the Pirates' key hits in a 7-3 victory over the Phillies. Parker doubled and scored one of the Pirates' three runs in the first inning. Parker's second double drove in two runs in the eighth when the Pirates padded their lead to 7-0. The Phillies had a homer by Davey Johnson in a ninth-inning rally that fell far short with only three runs.

Dodgers 7, Padres 6 at San Diego (night game):
Hitting safely in his 17th straight game, Ron Cey rapped a homer and two singles and drove in his 26th and 27th runs of the month to pace the Dodgers to a 7-6 victory over the Padres. Cey's batting average boomed to .469. The Padres began the scoring with a two-run homer by Dave Winfield in the third inning, but Cey's circuit clout sparked a three-run outburst by the Dodgers in the fourth. After the Dodgers increased their lead to 6-2, Cey drove in what proved to be the deciding run with a single in the eighth, enabling the Dodgers to withstand a four-run rally by the Padres in their half of the inning. George Hendrick accounted for two runs with a homer.

Giants 3, Astros 2 at San Francisco (night game):
After Rob Andrews drew a walk, Darrell Evans came up with two out in the eighth inning and smashed a homer to lift the Giants to a 3-2 victory over the Astros.
