Today's scores and summaries:

Angels 7, Orioles 5 at California (night game):
The Angels, who were losing, 5-2, suddenly arose against Jim Palmer and scored five runs in the eighth inning to defeat the Orioles, 7-5. Ex-Oriole Bobby Grich capped the rally with a bases-loaded single, driving in the Angels' last two runs for their winning margin.

Rangers 2, Royals 0 at Kansas City (night game):
Ending a personal four-game losing streak, Gaylord Perry pitched the Rangers to a 2-0 victory over the Royals. The Rangers scored a run in the first inning on singles by Bert Campaneris, Willie Horton and Dave May. Their other tally followed in the fourth on a single by Jim Sundberg and double by Claudell Washington.

Tigers 9, Brewers 1 at Milwaukee (night game):
Rookie righthander Dave Rozema pitched a five-hitter to record his third straight victory and Ron LeFlore and Steve Kemp rapped homers as the Tigers defeated the Brewers, 9-1.

Mariners 8, Yankees 6 at Seattle (night game):
Dan Meyer and Bill Stein hit homers on consecutive pitches thrown by Catfish Hunter in the first inning to start the Mariners off to an 8-6 victory over the Yankees, who committed five errors. Six of the Mariners' runs were unearned. Carlos Lopez was safe on an error by Graig Nettles ahead of the homers. The Mariners added a run in the second and kayoed Hunter in the third while scoring four more times with the aid of two errors by Chris Chambliss and one by Willie Randolph.

Dodgers 8, Expos 2 at Montreal (night game):
Don Sutton racked up his fifth straight victory with the Dodgers, beating the Expos, 8-2. Davey Lopes and Reggie Smith hit homers in the first inning to open the Dodgers' attack. Sutton clinched his own decision with a two-run double in the third. After yielding only four hits in the first eight innings, Sutton tired in the ninth and surrendered a double by Chris Speier and singles by Ellis Valentine, Mike Jorgensen and Gary Carter for the Expos' runs. Mike Garman relieved and retired the last two batters.

Padres 5, Mets 2 at New York (night game):
Tom Griffin smashed a homer in his own behalf and combined with Rollie Fingers to pitch the Padres to a 5-2 victory over the Mets, who suffered their 10th defeat in the last 11 games. Jerry Koosman, who gave up Griffin's homer in the seventh inning, was losing, 2-0, when he was removed for a pinch-hitter. The Padres then fell on Bob Myrick for three runs in the eighth on a triple by Dave Winfield, a walk and singles by Doug Rader, Mike Champion and Bob Davis, plus an error. Griffin was lifted in the eighth after Felix Millan singled and John Milner homered. Fingers finished and picked up his sixth save.

Phillies 3, Giants 0 at Philadelphia (night game):
Larry Christenson yielded only three hits while pitching the Phillies to a 3-0 victory over the Giants. The Phils decided the outcome with two runs off John Montefusco in the first inning on singles by Garry Maddox and Jay Johnstone, a double by Greg Luzinski and infield out by Richie Hebner. Mike Schmidt homered in the seventh.

Braves 6, Pirates 1 at Pittsburgh (day game):
The Braves' 17-game losing streak came to an end with a 6-1 victory over the Pirates, who were stopped on their 11-game winning string. Max Leon, who started on the mound for the Braves, scattered three hits and drove in three runs with a sacrifice fly and single before being relieved in the eighth inning. Rick Camp yielded a run-scoring single by Willie Stargell while finishing the game. Owner Ted Turner, who served as acting manager of the Braves in the previous night's game, was ordered out of uniform by N. L. President Chub Feeney because his contract as coach had not yet been approved. Coach Vern Benson handled the club in the absence of manager Dave Bristol, who had been relieved of his duties for 10 games by Turner.

Cardinals 10, Reds 1 at St. Louis (day game):
Three Cardinal pitchers combined on a one-hitter in a 10-1 victory over the Reds. Starter John D'Acquisto pitched four hitless innings. Buddy Schultz hurled the next four frames and gave up a double by Ken Griffey with two out in the eighth for the Reds' only hit. Al Hrabosky was on the mound in the last inning.
