Today's scores and summaries:

Orioles 8, Brewers 5 at Baltimore (night game):
Pat Kelly homered with two men on base in the 11th inning to climax a four-run outburst as the Orioles came from behind to defeat the Brewers, 8-5. The Brewers took the lead with an unearned run in the top half of the 11th. Sal Bando singled, took second on a sacrifice and scored when Billy Smith booted a grounder by Jim Wohlford. The Orioles quickly knotted the count in their half with a single by Tom Shopay and double by Rich Dauer. Strategy dictated an intentional an pass to Eddie Murray, but Kelly wrecked the move with his game-winning homer.

Red Sox 7, White Sox 1 at Boston (night game):
The Red Sox had consecutive homers for the seventh time this season when George Scott and Bernie Carbo hit for the circuit in the fourth inning of a 7-1 victory over the White Sox. Scott homered again in the eighth with two men on base. Ralph Garr led off the game with a round-tripper for the White Sox, but winner Rick Wise yielded only three other hits before Bill Campbell relieved and pitched hitless ball in the last two stanzas.

Rangers 7, Indians 2 at Cleveland (night game):
Homers by Dave May and Tom Grieve accounted for five runs and powered the Rangers to a 7-2 victory over the Indians. Grieve connected with a man on base in the second inning and May with two aboard in the third. Andre Thornton produced the Indians' runs with a homer in the eighth.

Tigers 7, Blue Jays 2 at Detroit (night game):
John Hiller, making his fifth start since switching from the bullpen, yielded only four hits, struck out 12 and pitched the Tigers to a 7-2 victory over the Blue Jays. Tito Fuentes knocked in two runs with a triple, Rusty Staub accounted for a pair with a sacrifice fly and double and Milt May homered in the Tigers' attack. The Blue Jays scored their runs on round-trippers by Ron Fairly and Doug Rader. Rader's blow was his first in the A. L.

Angels 12, Twins 9 at Minnesota (night game):
Joe Rudi smashed two homers and a double, driving in five runs, and Mario Guerrero had a 5-for-5 night at the plate with three RBIs to highlight the Angels' 12-9 victory over the Twins. Lyman Bostock hit two triples and two singles in four trips and batted in two runs for the Twins.

Yankees 4, Royals 2 at New York (night game):
Roy White drew a bases-loaded walk in the eighth inning to force in the tie-breaking run and Lou Piniella followed with a single for an insurance marker as the Yankees defeated the Royals, 4-2. Don Gullett, who held the Royals to four hits, gained his sixth straight victory after dropping his first two decisions. Willie Randolph singled and Mickey Rivers beat out a bunt to open the Yankee eighth. After a wild pitch with one out, Andy Hassler walked Chris Chambliss intentionally. Hassler then went to a 3-0 count on White before yielding the mound to Larry Gura, who threw ball four on his first pitch, forcing in Randolph. Piniella's single clinched the outcome.

A's 6, Mariners 3 at Seattle (night game):
Wiping out a 3-0 deficit, the Athletics rallied for four runs in the seventh inning and added two in the eighth on a homer by Wayne Gross to defeat the Mariners, 6-3. The Mariners took their lead with a two-run homer by Steve Braun in the third and with doubles by Ruppert Jones and Bill Stein in the fourth. The A's put together singles by Mitchell Page, Earl Williams and Wayne Gross, an infield out, a walk and pinch-single by Jim Tyrone for their runs in the seventh. Manny Sanguillen tripled ahead of Gross' homer in the eighth.

Braves 8, Mets 5 at Atlanta (night game):
Willie Montanez batted in five runs with a single, double and homer, leading the Braves to an 8-5 victory over the Mets. Montanez drove in two runs with his single in the third inning, added an RBI with a double in the fifth and capped his big night at bat with a two-run homer in the eighth. John Milner batted in three runs and Bud Harrelson accounted for two in the Mets' scoring.

Reds 3, Phillies 2 at Cincinnati (night game):
Johnny Bench drove in all of the Reds' runs to escort Fred Norman to a 3-2 decision over the Phillies for the lefthander's sixth straight victory. Bench began his run production with a homer in the second inning, After the Phillies took a 2-1 lead with circuit clouts by Jerry Martin and Mike Schmidt, Bench singled to score Joe Morgan with the tying tally in the fourth. The Reds loaded the bases in the sixth on walks to Pete Rose and Morgan around a single by Ken Griffey. After George Foster struck out, Bench forced Morgan at second, but the Reds' catcher beat the relay to first, preventing a double play, as Rose scored the deciding run.

Astros 5, Expos 0 at Houston (night game):
Bob Watson hit a two-run homer and Julio Gonzalez doubled with the bases loaded to drive in the Astros' other tallies in a 5-0 victory over the Expos. Joaquin Andujar, the Astros' starter, was hit on the pitching hand by a line drive, and was forced to leave the game after six innings but gained his sixth straight victory with finishing help from Joe Niekro.

Dodgers 3, Pirates 2 at Los Angeles (night game):
An error and a passed ball enabled the Dodgers to rally for two runs in the ninth inning to the defeat the Pirates, 3-2. Ed Ott and Bill Robinson homered for the Pirates, while Steve Garvey had a round-tripper in the seventh to account for the Dodgers' first run. With one out in the Dodgers' ninth, Boog Powell hit a pinch-single and yielded the paths to John Hale. Ed Goodson was safe on an error by Frank Taveras, who fumbled a potential double-play grounder. Lee Lacy singled, scoring Hale and sending pinch-runner Johnny Oates to third. Pirates' catcher Ott then let a pitch by Rich Gossage get past him with Bill Russell at bat and Oates scored the winning run.

Cubs 6, Padres 5 at San Diego (night game):
The Cubs extended their winning streak to five games when Manny Trillo drove in a run with a two-out, bases-loaded single in the 12th inning to beat the Padres, 6-5. The Cubs had a chance to win in the 11th when they scored on a walk, singles by Trillo and Steve Ontiveros and forceout by George Mitterwald at second, with the Padres missing the chance for a double play on the slow handling of a grounder, but the Padres kept the game going with the tying tally in their half on a double by Mike Ivie and single by George Hendrick, who had a two-run homer earlier in the game. Trillo's winning single in the 12th followed a single by Ivan DeJesus, forceout by Larry Biittner, double by Gene Clines and intentional pass to Bobby Murcer.

Giants 7, Cardinals 1 at San Francisco (night game):
Ed Halicki, winning for the fourth time in his last five decisions, yielded only three hits and pitched the Giants to a 7-1 victory over the Cardinals. The Giants had 11 hits, including a two-run double by Gary Thomasson. The Cards averted a shutout with a run in the sixth inning on a walk to Mike Tyson, a sacrifice and double by Garry Templeton.
