Today's scores and summaries:

Brewers 6, Orioles 2 at Baltimore (night game):
The Brewers erupted for six runs in the second inning, scoring two on a double by Steve Brye and two on a homer by Don Money, to defeat the Orioles, 6-2. Singles by Cecil Cooper and passes to Sal Bando and Ken McMullen loaded the bases before Brye rapped his double. McMullen scored on a sacrifice fly by Larry Haney and Brye crossed the plate on a single by Robin Yount. Money then capped the outburst with his round-tripper.

Rangers 6, Indians 0 at Cleveland (night game):
Mike Marshall, who pitched seven innings before tiring, gained his first A. L. victory since 1969 when the Rangers defeated the Indians, 6-0. Relievers Adrian Devine and Darold Knowles completed the shutout. Marshall won three games and lost 10 with the former Seattle Pilots before pitching in the N. L. from 1970 through '76. Dave May hit a double and single to account for two of the Rangers' runs and Jim Sundberg added a pair with a triple.

Tigers 9, Blue Jays 0 at Detroit (night game):
The Tigers' conversion of Fernando Arroyo from reliever to starter continued to pay dividends when the righthander pitched his first major league shutout, beating the Blue Jays, 9-0. The victory was his fourth against one defeat since coming out of the bullpen May 14. Ben Oglivie paced the Tigers' attack, driving in three runs with a sacrifice fly and homer.

Twins 3, Angels 2 at Minnesota (night game):
Rod Carew, the league's leading batter, tripled off Frank Tanana in the seventh inning and scored on a sacrifice fly by Craig Kusick to give the Twins a 3-2 victory over the Angels. Tanana, who leads the league in victories with 10, drew his third defeat in a duel with Dave Goltz. The Angels staked their lefthander to a two-run margin in the first inning, but the Twins picked up a run in their half and tied the score when Roy Smalley homered in the second.

Mariners 6, A's 5 at Seattle (night game):
After rallying to tie the score in the 10th inning, the Mariners came from behind again with two runs in the 11th to defeat the Athletics, 6-5. An infield hit by Wayne Gross with the bases loaded in the 10th put the A's ahead, 4-3, but with two out in the Mariners' half, Carlos Lopez saved the Mariners from defeat by hitting a homer. The A's forged in front again in the 11th on a pinch-single by Jim Tyrone. In the Mariners' half, Dave Collins singled, Bill Stein sacrificed and Larry Milbourne singled to produce the tying run. One out later, Juan Bernhardt singled to drive in Milbourne.

Mets 6, Braves 5 at Atlanta (night game):
Bruce Boisclair belted a two-run homer in the third inning and later scored the winning run in the eighth to lift the Mets to a 6-5 victory over the Braves. John Milner batted in three runs for the Mets with a single and triple. Jeff Burroughs and Cito Gaston homered for the Braves. Boisclair walked in the eighth, scampered to third on a single by Ed Kranepool and scored on an infield out by John Stearns.

Reds 8, Phillies 7 at Cincinnati (night game):
Two pitchers who were traded after the game made lackluster appearances as the Reds defeated the Phillies, 8-7, in 10 innings. Gary Nolan, later swapped to the Angels, started for the Reds and was kayoed in the first inning after giving up two-run homers by Mike Schmidt and Richie Hebner. Tom Underwood, whom the Phillies traded to the Cardinals, was the loser in the 10th. Tom Hume, who replaced Nolan, hit his first major league homer, but the Phillies had a round-tripper by Greg Luzinski while building up a 7-2 lead. The Reds rallied for four runs in the seventh and tied the score with two out in the ninth when George Foster, swinging at a 3-0 pitch, smashed a homer off Gene Garber. Bob Bailey singled in the 10th and stole second. Champ Summers went in to run for Bailey and scored when Pete Rose singled for his third hit of the game.

Expos 2, Astros 0 at Houston (night game):
Jackie Brown scattered four hits and posted his first N. L. shutout, pitching the Expos to a 2-0 victory over the Astros. The Expos touched J.R. Richard for a run in the second inning when Tony Perez and Warren Cromartie singled and Gary Carter hit a sacrifice fly. Singles by Cromartie, Andre Dawson and Wayne Garrett added the other run in the seventh.

Dodgers 10, Pirates 1 at Los Angeles (night game):
The Dodgers scored seven runs in one inning for the third time this season en route to a 10-1 victory over the Pirates. Twelve men went to bat during the Dodgers' outburst in the sixth. Dusty Baker batted in two runs with a bases-loaded single and later added a third RBI with a homer in the seventh. Steve Garvey earlier hit a homer, his fourth in as many games.

Cubs 2, Padres 0 at San Diego (night game):
Rick Reuschel, one of the main contributers to the Cubs' surprise showing, brought his record to 9-2 with his first shutout of the season, beating the Padres, 2-0. The victory was the Cubs' sixth straight. A triple by Gene Clines and infield out by Bill Buckner produced the Cubs' first run in the fourth inning. A pass to Buckner, wild pitch and single by Jerry Morales added the other tally in the sixth.

Cardinals 9, Giants 6 at San Francisco (night game):
Ted Simmons, Jerry Mumphrey, Garry Templeton and Keith Hernandez each batted in two runs to carry the Cardinals to a 9-6 victory over the Giants. After trailing, 4-0, the Cards erupted for six runs in the fourth inning, two scoring on a homer by Simmons and two on a double by Mumphrey. The Giants came back to tie the score, but the Cardinals broke away with three runs in the seventh.
