Today's scores and summaries:

Red Sox 7, Orioles 3 at Baltimore (night game):
The Red Sox extended their record homer streak to 30 in nine consecutive games with a circuit clout by Butch Hobson while defeating the Orioles, 7-3, to complete a sweep of the four-game series. Hobson hit his homer in the second inning and drove in another run with a double in the fourth. After Lee May homered for the Orioles in their half of the fourth to tie the score at 2-2, the Red Sox counted twice in the fifth on a double by Rick Burleson, singles by Fred Lynn and Jim Rice and a sacrifice fly by Carl Yastrzemski. The Orioles picked up one run in their half, but Steve Dillard knocked in two for the Red Sox with a single in the eighth and Carlton Fisk tripled in a run in the ninth.

Angels 10, White Sox 6 at Chicago (day game):
The Angels, after trailing, 6-2, came from behind to defeat the White Sox, 10-6. The White Sox built up their lead with five runs in the fifth inning, including a homer by Lamar Johnson and two-run triple by Jack Brohamer. The Angels cut their deficit to 6-5 with three runs in the sixth and then erupted for five in the seventh. After the tying tally counted on a wild pitch with the bases loaded, Don Baylor was passed intentionally to fill the sacks again. Bobby Bonds broke the tie with a two-run single and Terry Humphrey clinched the decision with a single for the final pair.

Mariners 8, Royals 6 at Kansas City (night game):
A single by Craig Reynolds drove in the tie-breaking run in the 10th inning and the Mariners added another tally on an error to defeat the Royals, 8-6. Dan Meyer opened the inning with a double, stopped at third on a single by Bob Stinson and scored on Reynolds' hit. When Fred Patek bobbled a soft liner by Jose Baez, Stinson also crossed the plate.

Twins 12, Rangers 2 at Minnesota (day game):
Rod Carew rapped three hits to raise his average to .395 and Larry Hisle batted in two runs to boost his RBI total to 65 as the Twins celebrated Dave Goltz' 28th birthday by trouncing the Rangers, 12-2.

Indians 4, Blue Jays 0 at Toronto (night game):
Getting four-hit pitching from Wayne Garland, the Indians defeated the Blue Jays, 4-0, for their eighth straight victory and sixth in a row since Jeff Torborg replaced Frank Robinson as manager. Duane Kuiper singled in the first inning and scored the initial run on a double by Jim Norris. Rico Carty singled and Buddy Bell homered in the fourth. Carty wrapped up the scoring with a circuit clout in the sixth.
