Today's scores and summaries:

Angels 4, Yankees 1 at California (night game):
Rookie Danny Goodwin unloaded a run-scoring triple, then scored on Terry Humphrey's sacrifice fly as the Angels ended the Yankees' four-game winning streak, 4-1, behind Ken Brett's six-hit pitching.

Rangers 11, White Sox 6 at Chicago (night game):
A single by Bert Campaneris with the bases full, producing two runs, was the key blow in a four-run sixth inning that carried the Rangers to an 11-6 decision overthe White Sox and their ninth victory in 10 games. The Rangers tied a major league record shared by four clubs with eight sacrifices, five sacrifice bunts and three sacrifice flies. The feat was last accomplished by the old St. Louis Browns against the Indians July 23, 1928.

Twins 9, Royals 5 at Minnesota (night game):
Lyman Bostock drove in four runs with a homer, double and single to lead the Twins to a 9-5 triumph over the Royals. A single by Butch Wynegar and doubles by Glenn Adams, Dan Ford and Jerry Terrell produced three runs for the Twins in the decisive fifth inning.

Orioles 5, A's 1 at Oakland (night game):
Home runs by Kiko Garcia, in the third inning, and Andres Mora, a two-run clout in the eighth, helped the Orioles defeat Oakland, 5-1, and regain first place in the American League East. Rudy May, with last-out help from Dick Drago, posted his 100th career victory.

Blue Jays 3, Brewers 2 at Toronto (night game):
Ron Fairly hit the 200th homer of his career, a three-run drive in the sixth inning, to propel the Blue Jays past the Brewers, 3-2. Rookie Jim Clancy went the distance in his second start to notch his first major league victory.

Cardinals 6, Braves 5 at Atlanta (night game):
The Cardinals edged the Braves, 6-5, when Lou Brock walked with one out in the sixth inning and scored the winning run on Jerry Mumphrey's double. Garry Templeton hit a two-run triple and two singles in the Cardinals' ninth victory in 11 games. A three-run homer by Cito Gaston tied the score, 5-5, in the fifth.

Reds 7, Cubs 6 at Cincinnati (night game):
Dan Driessen tripled, scoring George Foster who had walked, and scored himself on Johnny Bench's single in a seventh-inning rally that marked the Reds' 7-6 victory over the Cubs. Foster hit a pair of two-run homers, his 33rd and 34th of the season, and boosted his runs batted in total to 102, a major league high.

Mets 8, Dodgers 7 at New York (night game):
