Today's scores and summaries:

Red Sox 10, Brewers 4 at Boston (day game):
With Butch Hobson and Fred Lynn furnishing the power and Bill Lee pitching steadily, the Red Sox rolled to their seventh consecutive victory, trouncing the Brewers, 10-4. Hobson hit a three-run homer and Lynn added a two-run shot. Jerry Remy extended his hitting streak to 10 games, but Jim Rice had a 10-game streak halted. Gorman Thomas and Cecil Cooper each hit his fifth round-tripper of the campaign for the Brewers.

Dodgers 5, Astros 1 at Los Angeles (night game):
The Dodgers ended the Astros' four-game winning streak, 5-1, as lefty Doug Rau scattered eight hits in gaining his second victory of the season. Trailing, 1-0, the Dodgers broke the game open in the sixth inning. Reggie Smith led off with a single and Ron Cey walked ahead of Steve Garvey's RBI double. Duety Baker fanned and Rick Monday was given an intentional walk to load the bases. The strategy failed when Steve Yeager cleared the bases with a double to left-center.

Padres 2, Braves 0 at San Diego (day game):
With Randy Jones pitching in his old form, the Padres blanked the Braves, 2-0, to snap a four-game losing streak. Atlanta pitcher Phil Niekro set the Padres down in order in seven innings but walked Dave Winfield to begin the fifth. Oscar Gamble beat out an infield hit and, after Bill Almon filed out, Ozzie Smith grounded out as the runners moved up. Bob Davis followed with a single to center to drive in the game's only runs. Rollie Fingers replaced Jones for the Padres in the ninth with runners on second and third and one out. The ace reliever got Brian Asselstine on a slow roller in front of the plate and Jeff Burroughs on a liner to right.
