Today's scores and summaries:

Orioles 3, Red Sox 2 at Baltimore (night game):
A two-run homer by Edie Murray in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted the Orioles to a 3-2 triumph and ended the Red Sox winning streak at seven. Pinch-hitter Carlos Lopez opened the ninth with a bloop single to center. After Ken Singleton sacrificed, Murray unloaded. The first Red Sox run came in the second on consecutive singles by Carlton Fisk, Fred Lynn and Butch Hobson. Singleton's homer tied it for the Orioles in the fourth. The Red Sox took a 2-1 lead in the seventh on an RBI double by Frank Duffy.

White Sox 7, Twins 2 at Chicago (night game):
Rookie southpaw Rich Wortham got credit for his first major league victory as the White Sox ended a four-game losing streak with a 7-2 thumping of the Twins. The White Sox erupted for three runs in the first inning. Ralph Garr singled and scored on a double by Jorge Orta. After Don Kessinger singled, Chet Lemon stroked a single to plate Orta. Kessinger then tallied on Lamar Johnson's infield out. Johnson hit a two-run homer in the fifth and Bill Nahorodny belted a two-run round-tripper in the seventh.

Indians 6, Mariners 1 at Cleveland (night game):
A two-run single by Ted Cox broke a tie and triggered the Indians to a 6-1 triumph over the Mariners. With the score knotted, 1-1, in the fourth inning, Buddy Bell led off with a single and Andre Thornton walked. Both runners moved up on Mike Vail's sacrifice and Willie Horton was intentionally walked to fill the bases. Cox then lined a 1-1 pitch into left field. The Mariners got off to a 1-0 lead in the third on a run-scoring single by Craig Reynolds, but the Indians tied it in their turn when Ron Pruitt homered. A triple by Vail and single by Willie Horton produced another Indian run in the sixth.

Rangers 4, Brewers 3 at Milwaukee (night game):
A pair of two-run innings by the Rangers offset three Brewer homers as Texas downed Milwaukee, 4-3. Bump Wills drilled a two-run homer after a walk to Mike Hargrove in the third inning and Al Oliver's double drove in the other two runs in the fifth. Paul Molitor, Sal Bando and Sixto Lezcano all hit solo homers for the Brewers, boosting the club's league-leading total to 39.

Blue Jays 3, A's 1 at Toronto (night game):
Four consecutive singles in a three-run third inning ignited the Blue Jays to a 3-1 verdict over the A's. Dave McKay and Luis Gomez singled back-to-back and Rick Bosetti and Bob Bailor each singled a run home. Roy Howell's infield chopper yielded the third tally of the inning. The A's counted their run on left fielder Willie Upshaw's error in the top of the third, breaking a string of 31 consecutive scoreless innings.

Cardinals 6, Dodgers 5 at Los Angeles (night game):
Rallying from a 4-0 deficit, the Cardinals came back to edge the Dodgers, 6-5, as Mark Littell pitched spectacularly in relief to gain his first N. L. victory. The righthander blanked the Dodgers on two hits over the last six innings while striking out eight. The Cards' winning run came in the sixth when Tony Scott and Mike Tyson singled and Lou Brock stroked a sacrifice fly to plate Scott. The Redbirds tied the game in the fifth on a two-run homer by Jerry Morales.

Mets 7, Expos 2 at Montreal (night game):
With Elliott Maddox driving in three runs to back the six-hit pitching of Nino Espinosa, the Mets defeated the Expos, 7-2. Maddox singled in a run in the first inning after Lenny Randle led off the game with a double and Bobby Valentine singled. Willie Montanez' sacrifice fly scored Valentine. After the bases were loaded in the fifth on a double by Espinosa, pass to Randle and single by Valentine, Maddox smashed a two-run double.

Phillies 3, Astros 1 at Philadelphia (night game):
Jim Morrison belted his first major league home run to power the Phillies to a 3-1 victory over the Astros. The rookie, called up April 29 when regular second baseman Ted Sizemore suffered a broken hand, connected with Bob Boone on base in the second inning. A bases-loaded walk gave the Phils their other run in the fifth frame. Houston's lone tally came in the fourth on Cesar Cedeno's leadoff homer.

Padres 1, Cubs 0 at San Diego (night game):
Breaking out of an 0-for-17 slump, George Hendrick swatted a solo homer in the fourth inning to support Randy Jones' airtight pitching as the Padres topped the Cubs, 1-0. The ace lefty needed only 91 pitches to earn his third win in five decisions. Hendrick entered the game hitting .192.

Pirates 5, Giants 1 at San Francisco (day game):
The Pirates defeated the Giants, 5-1, as Bert Blyleven struck out 12 batters in gaining his second victory. The Pirates scored a pair of runs in the second inning on a single by Rennie Stennett, triple by Phil Garner and double by Duffy Dyer. They added three more in the fifth on a single by Frank Taveras, a pair of walks, a sacrifice fly by John Milner and two-run double by Willie Stargell. The loss snapped the Giants' four-game winning streak.
