[DH] Brewers 3, Indians 2 (night game) / Brewers 5, Indians 4 at Milwaukee (night game):
The Brewers swept a doubleheader from the Indians, 3-2 and 5-4. In the first game, the score was 2-2 going into the last of the eighth inning when Paul Molitor, leading off, reached first base on an error by Andre Thornton, moved to second on a sacrifice by Don Money and scored the winning run on a double by Larry Hisle. The Brewers trailed, 4-2, entering the last of the ninth in the nightcap but staged a three-run rally to win the game. Jim Wohlford led off with a single and was forced at second by Gorman Thomas. Pinch-hitter Dave May singled and, after Robin Yount flied out, reliever Jim Kern yielded a single to Money to load the bases. Ben Oglivie and Hisle then drew walks to force in the tying run and Cecil Cooper singled between third and short to plate the winning marker.

Tigers 7, Twins 3 at Minnesota (night game):
The hitting and baserunning of Ron LeFlore sparked the Tigers to a 7-3 victory over the Twins. With the score 3-3 in the sixth inning, Steve Dillard singled, advanced to second on a groundout and scored on a single by Ron LeFlore. LeFlore singled to lead off the third stanza, stole second and scored on a single by John Wockenfuss. LeFlore's steal was his 27th consecutive, setting an A. L. record.

Orioles 6, A's 4 at Oakland (night game):
A two-out, 10th inning double by Rick Dempsey drove in two runs and gave the Orioles a 6-4 decision over the A's. After A's Manager Jack McKeon used up all but one of his players, the A's wound up with outfielder Miguel Dilone playing third base and catcher Jim Essian playing second. In the 10th, after one out, Dilone committed two errors on a smash by Doug DeCinces, allowing the batter to reach second. After an intentional walk to Lee May and a groundout by Mike Anderson, Dempsey lined his two-base hit for the winning blow.

Mariners 5, Red Sox 2 at Seattle (night game):

Later in the inning, a single by Bill Stein and double by Bill Plummer added another marker. The Mariners' final two runs came in the eighth on a bases-loaded single by Dan Meyer.

Blue Jays 3, Rangers 1 at Toronto (day game):
Getting all their runs in the seventh inning, the Blue Jays went on to a 3-1 triumph over the Rangers. The Jays trailed, 1-0, going into the bottom of the seventh but tied the score on a leadoff walk to Roy Howell and a double by Willie Horton. A groundout by John Mayberry moved Horton to third.
