Today's scores and summaries:

Orioles 7, A's 3 at Baltimore (night game):
A homer by Doug DeCinces was the key blow as the Orioles won their seventh straight game, a 7-3 decision over the A's. The score was 3-3 going into the bottom of eighth when Ken Singleton hit a leadoff single. DeCinces followed with a round-tripper. Later in the inning, Rich Dauer and Mark Belanger added RBI singles.

Red Sox 10, Mariners 9 at Boston (night game):
Getting three runs in the bottom of ninth, the Red Sox captured a wild contest from the Mariners, 10-9. The Sox trailed, 9-7, going into the final frame, when Fred Lynn stroked a leadoff single. Garry Hancock followed with a single and George Scott attempted a sacrifice bunt. First baseman Dan Meyer fielded the ball but threw wildly into the dugout, allowing Lynn to score and Hancock and Scott to wind up at third and second, respectively. Butch Hobson then lined a two-base hit off the center field wall to win the game for the Bosox.

Brewers 10, Tigers 1 at Detroit (night game):
Tossing a two-hitter, Jerry Augustine hurled the Brewers to a 10-1 triumph over the Tigers. Tiger starter Dave Rozema gave up a walk and single to start the third inning and, after one out, Robin Yount hit a home run. The Brewers got five more runs in the seventh, helped by an error and wild pitch.

Royals 3, White Sox 2 at Kansas City (night game):
A sacrifice fly by Willie Wilson in the ninth inning drove home the winning run as the Royals edged the White Sox, 3-2. John Wathan opened the inning with a two-base hit and moved to third on an infield single by Frank White. Wilson then drove a deep fly to center to end the game. The Royals had tied the contest in the sixth inning, the tying run scoring when Sox left fielder Ralph Garr dropped a fly ball.

Yankees 4, Angels 1 at New York (night game):
Winning their fourth straight game and handing California its fourth straight loss, the Yankees downed the Angels, 4-1. New York scored two runs in the first inning. Mickey Rivers walked, stole second, went to third on a single by Willie Randolph and scored on a sacrifice fly by Thurman Munson. A single by Reggie Jackson moved Randolph to second and Randolph and Jackson then worked a double steal. An infield grounder by Lou Piniella plated Randolph. Jackson had an RBI single in the fifth frame and Munson had an RBI double in the seventh.

Rangers 11, Blue Jays 3 at Texas (night game):
With Al Oliver and Bump Wills leading a 13-hit assault, the Rangers routed the Blue Jays, 11-3. Oliver singled home two runs during a three-run first inning and drilled a two-run homer in the seventh. Wills singled home a run in the seventh and belted a two-run homer in the eighth.

Braves 4, Cubs 3 at Atlanta (night game):
Two home runs by Jeff Burroughs, the league's leading hitter, powered the Braves past the Cubs, 4-3. Burroughs hit a solo blast in the second inning and with the Braves trailing, 3-2, in the bottom of the sixth, he belted a two-run shot.

Pirates 3, Reds 1 at Cincinnati (night game):
John Candelaria and Ed Whitson combined on a two-hitter as the Pirates posted a 3-1 triumph over the Reds in a game delayed in starting for two hours and 46 minutes. Dave Parker tripled home Omar Moreno in the fourth inning and then scored on a sacrifice fly by Bill Robinson. The Bucs added a run in the seventh on an RBI single by Robinson.

Dodgers 4, Expos 0 at Los Angeles (night game):
Two-run homers by Davey Lopes and Lee Lacy supported four-hit pitching by Burt Hooton as the Dodgers blanked the Expos, 4-0. Lopes smacked a round-tripper in the seventh inning following a single by Joe Ferguson. In the eighth frame, a single by Ron Cey preceded a homer by Lacy.

Phillies 6, Padres 1 at San Diego (night game):
With Jim Kaat getting credit for his 260th career win, the Phillies triumphed over the Padres, 6-1. Jerry Martin drove in three runs with a double in the second inning and a two-run single in the ninth. Bob Boone drove in two runs with a sacrifice fly in the third and a single in the ninth. Greg Luzinski had an RBI single in the third.
