The Yankees extended their winning streak to seven games with a 6-2 victory over the Orioles. Trailing, 2-0, going into the sixth inning, the Yankees rallied for three runs. A single by Cliff Johnson and double by Bucky Dent produced one tally. Dent reached third when pitcher Scott McGregor missed the cutoff throw from the outfield and scored on a double by Mickey Rivers. After advancing to third on a sacrifice bunt, Rivers scored the go-ahead run when third baseman Doug DeCinces kicked away a pickoff throw. Lou Piniella led off the seventh with a home run and the Yanks added a pair of tallies in the ninth on a sacrifice fly by Jim Spencer and single by Dent.
