Today's scores and summaries:

Indians 4, Red Sox 3 at Boston (day game):
Snapping their five-game losing streak, the Indians scalped the Red Sox, 4-3. The score was 1-1 going into the fifth inning when the Tribe erupted for three runs. A double by Tom Veryzer and double by Bobby Bonds plated the first tally and Toby Harrah then clouted a two-run homer.

Tigers 10, Royals 4 at Detroit (day game):
Driving in two runs apiece, Steve Kemp, Aurelio Rodriguez and Alan Trammell led the Tigers to a 10-4 mauling of the Royals. The Tigers were aided by two errors by K. C. third baseman George Brett and one by shortstop Freddie Patek. Jack Billingham staggered through the first five innings to pick up his first victory of the season as Steve Baker bailed him out over the last four to record his first major league save.

A's 4, Mariners 2 at Oakland (night game):
The A's ended their four-game losing skein with a 4-2 triumph over the Mariners. Rob Picciolo, who broke an 0-for-22 slump with a second-inning single, broke a 1-1 tie in the fourth frame with an RBI triple and scored moments later on a passed ball. Mike Norris recorded his first major league win since 1977. Bruce Bochte hit safely in his 11th consecutive game for the Mariners.

White Sox 8, Blue Jays 4 at Toronto (day game):
The White Sox weathered eight walks by Lerrin LaGrow, making infrequent start, as the Blue Jays left a club-record 16 men on base in an 8-4 loss. Seven runs in the seventh inning lifted the Chisox to victory. Two-run doubles by Lamar Johnson and Bill Nahorodny highlighted the big inning.

Astros 4, Dodgers 0 at Los Angeles (night game):
Firing his second shutout in three starts this season, Ken Forsch limited the Dodgers to five hits to key the Astros' 4-0 triumph. It was Forsch's third straight victory and his fourth shutout in his last six starts since he was placed in the starting rotation late last season. The Astros pushed across two runs in their first turn at bat on a walk to Terry Puhl, triple by Jeff Leonard and single by Jose Cruz. RBI singles by Enos Cabell and Rafael Landestoy produced the final two runs in the eighth.

Expos 2, Cubs 0 at Montreal (day game):
Making his first appearance at Olympic Stadium, Bill Lee stymied the Cubs on two hits as the Expos blanked Chicago, 2-0, the third shutout suffered by the Cubs in six starts this season. Lee retired the first 16 batters he faced, pitching perfect ball until Barry Foote broke the string with a one-out single in the sixth. The other Cubs' hit was a two-out infield single by Bill Buckner in the ninth. The Expo runs came on a solo homer by Warren Cromartie in the first and a double and a run-scoring single by Gary Carter in the seventh.
