Brewer outfielder Sixto Lezcano dropped a fly ball with the bases loaded in the sixth to give the Orioles another pair. The Orioles scored runs in each of the first five innings of the second game. Eddie Murray had RBI singles in the first and fifth innings and belted a two-run double in the seventh to cap a 13-hit assault against four Brewer pitchers.

Red Sox 6, Royals 0 at Boston (day game):
Helped by four double plays, Mike Torrez overcame early wildness and pitched the Red Sox to a 6-0 victory over the Royals. Rick Burleson homered in the first inning and the Red Sox added two runs in the fourth on a double by Fred Lynn, walk to Jim Rice, an infield out and a single by George Scott. Rice drove in a run with a double and Scott plated a pair with a single in the fifth.

A's 7, Angels 6 at California (day game):
Coming from behind late in the game, the A's snapped the Angels' 10-game winning streak, 7-6. The score was 6-6 going into the eighth when Dwayne Murphy drew the one-out walk, stole second and scored on a double by Jim Essian. The Angels loaded the bases with none out in the bottom of the ninth, but A's reliever Dave Heaverlo got Joe Rudi to foul out, struck out pinch-hitter Rick Miller and retired Bobby Grich on a force to end the game.

Indians 8, White Sox 5 at Cleveland (day game):
Three home runs powered the Indians to an 8-5 victory over the White Sox. Bobby Bonds smacked a solo round-tripper in the third, Gary Alexander had a bases-empty blast in the sixth and Andre Thornton drilled a three-run homer in the seventh following a single by Tom Veryzer and a walk to Bonds.
